Default Parking your new C8Z in public places

I'm a bit **** about door dings and shopping cart damage. I doubt I'll ever park my car and leave it unattended in a parking lot. I do mean ANY PARKING LOT.
Just wondering if I'm the only one that's going off the deep end here?!?!

Ha ha. I hear you. I don’t think there’s a way I can avoid parking it, as it will be my daily driver. But I sure plan to park as far away as humanly possible. And there will just be places I’ll refuse to take it. All in all it is going to be very hard.

I will daily drive it as well, but any ding just eats at me knowing it’s there. One of the reasons I’ll xpel it like I did my C7Z before it sees one inch of road from the dealership.

When I "park as far as humanly possible" it seems my car is a magnet for some moron to park right next to me, I have a handicap placard so it gives me more room for my cars and guards against door dings. But yes, there are times I refuse to take one of my nice cars because the place is sketchy and stick with the SUV for those places.

I use a little common-sense and park all my P-cars out in 'left field' - and I've never gotten a door ding after all these years.

My cars are door ding free. I park in the boonies, and I use car covers.

First year I think I'll valet (with myself parking) or only do jaunts where I go for a drive with my source being home and destination being home. Until there are more on the road or I feel more comfortable. My ex had a beautiful CTS 10 years ago and parked it at Nordstrom. I nice place you figure. Someone backed out and scraped the car. You could see it on camera but not enough to see the plate. You can only control yourself. Not other people.

I’m having to drive my Z06 more than I’d like as I wait for my new Jeep to be built, going on 5 months now (definitely not close to what people have been waiting on their C8s, but was suppose to be 4-8 weeks). I generally park way out & on an end, but some places just don’t allow for that.

Just yesterday waiting for my son to finish his Taekwondo class I had 3 open spots on both sides. A woman parks in the spot next to me on the passenger side, gets out and her gigantic purse just misses the side mirror. A minute later she returns with her son from the class now carrying his big equipment bag over her shoulder with the purse. Sure enough she smacks the side of my car & the passenger mirror with the equipment bag, doesn’t say a word and whips out of the spot before I could even get out of the car .

Thankfully I have Xpel on the fenders and mirrors so there was no damage, but she hit the mirror so hard it rotated it inward. Most people just don’t care about others’ possessions or having common courtesy unfortunately. So yeah, there are places I will not take the Z, and most everywhere else park as far away from everyone as possible.

Full paint protection film will go a long ways to protecting your paint. You can't really do too much about dings but, that's still some level of protection.

Hate to sound sexist but it's always women. That's why their cars look like NYC cabs. The door stop to them is the car next to them. And 20 open spaces they always park near a car. My GF does this. Then I protest if she's driving why don't you want more space ? After many years maybe it's sinking in.

As stated, park in Guam, we all need the additional exercise, been doing this for 20 years, only problem is when it rains.

Ditto! I often find the parking spot farthest away from everyone and enjoy a nice stroll into whatever business I'm visiting. The reward besides reducing the risk of a door ding is that you get to look at your Vette longer on the way back!

I wouldn't generalize, as my wife is extremely cautious with her vehicles as well. We trade in her SUVs, which double as our family hauler at 100k miles every time, and every time they look brand new. But my wife also works hard for the things she has and takes care of them accordingly.

So you'll never take it out to dinner? Kinda seems pointless. I hate dings/damage too, but at the end of the day...it's just a car.

I've seen enough pictures of people sitting on random high end cars in parking garages and parking lots for pics to put on social media that I will be hesitant to leave it parked anywhere for any length of time. Quick run into the store? Sure no big deal. Sitting somewhere for hours? Probably never going to happen lol

I'll probably lighten up some after a few years pass and the hype around the car dies down.
