The Tires are going to be VERY greasy in the rain on public roads. They are downright scary in heavy rain... Like you'll be on the highway going 50mph and have to be fully focused just to keep the car in the right lane. If it will see any rain at all, just change them out yourself when you get the car. 2k for a set of ps4s, then you can probably recoop most of that selling the cup Rs to a track guy on the forum here.

Correct... They aren't yet but when the car launches they should be. All you need are the tires from the non-z07 car... They'll have to be available because people need tires when they need tires... Could show up at the dealer with a flat or get one pulling out

Let’s Not Forget The Cup 2R’s ARE SPECIALLY MADE for the Z07, of course there a Track Tire and won’t Last as long as the PS4”s but I Believe they’ll last longer than Many People think , especially when the Testers said there 10th Lap was just as Quick ( OR Quicker ) than their 1st Lap

Also, just to state what I've stated before, one of the GM engineers said the Cup 2Rs perform as well as the Cup 2s in the rain, maybe even slightly better. My understanding is the Cup 2Rs going on the Z06 are equivalent to or better than the Cup 2s in every way except PERHAPS lifespan. I guess we'll find out for sure in the coming months.

Engineers were quick to say this is a bespoke tire for this car. It may have more longevity than we expect.
My concern is any wet weather on my travels home from the NCM. I drove my previous HTC Z51 in torrential rain to VIR for the IMSA race and the car was a handful even on PS4S.

Cup 2 R—— R is for racing - is a race tire not shaved but designed for maximum dry weather all out grip and adhesion. There was a Cup2 R tire at ciocca . Its like a slick with Mimi mail tread to get DOT certification just like Hoosiers and BFG R1 race tires .
Bottom line - don’t get Z07 option if you are not road racing or gung-ho and or prepared to go slow when you have a lot of water and “cattle tracks/ grooves” filled with water on the roads. Don’t let your son or buddy borrow your new c8z06 and go for a rip ……..because they might assume new Z06 got to be bad-*** and grip everything like Velcro and can wreck your car especially if its really cold and wet.
If its raining really really hard its very simple and safe……..just get into the right slow lane and go slow. It’s no big deal going 30 to 50 mph until the water abates and then back on the gas! If rain is truly expected big time like all other toys you guys have it stays in the garage all detailed up and clean. Drive something else.
You want a laugh in Germany porsche for over 30 years always and i mean always publishes and offer snow-tires and chains for their sports cars. From old air-cooled to recent fast sports cars “wheel $ tire packages for wintertime”. How about a 345/35/21” snow tire???

I'll definitely run a snow tire here in the PNW. It's just cold and rainy for 6 months. Sliding it is half the fun.
The Z06 version of the 2R doesn't sound like a one lap wonder. It's a total custom compound. I don't think you'll get any serious miles out of it. 4 days of tracking? Anything more would be great. I'm sure there's a way better daily tire.

I had 2 sets of Cup 2 tires; the first set I got 8K miles. Towards the last 3500 miles they were terrible in the rain. I had to seriously slow down and put-put in the right lane. My second set of Cup 2 tires I only allowed 7000 miles. I was driving in the strong down-poring rain just 3 miles from my home going down a fairly steep hill doing 55mph; at the bottom of the hill I slid from the left lane over to the right lane. Fortunately there wasn't anyone next to me but even worse than that I saw the nose of the car point 60* to the right while intending to motor straight ahead. I had slowed down for the rain and knew form 15000 miles of ownership of Cup 2 tires that I needed to be careful in the rain. I believe that it was a miracle that I didn't go off the road down into a 30' ditch and really damage the Corvette. It is a convertible, (no track days), so the very next day I bought
all-season tires and now I drive it year-round and in the cold & rain with great traction in the rain and average to poor traction in the dry. Now when accelerating hard, I spend the tires in 1st, 2nd & 3rd gear (MT).
I certainly miss the grip in the dry but I don't have any concern in the rain or cold. I definitely am leaning toward ordering the Z07 package for the Z06, but not looking forward to the Cup 2R tires since I most likely am done doing track days.

I've driven in modest rain with MT ET SS drag slicks on the back. I dropped down to 50 MPH in the heavier rain and they wer OK, but probably would have messed up if a dear or other animal ran out in front of me at that speed. The safety margin is definitely lees with track designed tires in non-track like conditions.

I don’t see the point in running a track tire if you’re not going to track the car as it’s not going to work as well on the street nor last as long. I think they should make the CCB and wing an option on base Z06 for those that want them and not the full Z07 package which will only come with Cup2Rs.

Pricing on the Z07 package is not yet known, but the package cost as much as $7,995 USD on the C7 Z06 during its final model year.Sep 27, 2021

Based on the configurator, I think you can add those items a' la carte. But I don't think the wing and other pieces are CF unless you check the Z07 box. Plus there are a few other perks the Z07 gets. It's truly a tough decision... I have been hell bent on the Z07 package and if tires are the make it - break it factor, I'll just get the Z07 and swap on some PS4S as needed. It may depend on the cost of the Z07 package. CCB and all the CF bits will drive the Z07 option up pretty steep... Itching to see how steep.
