Default Impressions of the Z06 after seeing it at SEMA

I just got back from SEMA. The #1 car I was interested in seeing was the Z06. I'm on the list at Ciocca Corvette, though I don't know what number I am yet. Let me start off by saying I'm not a huge fan (I don't hate it just not totally in love with it) of the C8 Stingray. I like the car but I don't love the looks from certain angles. When the Z06 was revealed it seemed all of the issues that I personally had with the Stingray aesthetically were fixed, but I wanted to see in person.

First impression of the car (both the Z07 and "regular" cars were parked next to a C8 Stingray) was that the wide body is not as pronounced as the C7 Grand Sport/Z06 vs Stingray. You can tell it's wider but it takes a couple of seconds going back and forth from the Stingray to the Z06 to say "Ok, I do see now where it's a bit wider." Based on the pictures I thought it would be more obviously a wide body C8. Having said that the proportions are just about perfect, especially with those steamroller 345s on the back. From all angles it looked really good to me.

I personally am going to be purchasing the non-Z07 version (if I get a reasonable number). Primarily a 99% back roads toy. I am partial to the clean rear wing and I REALLY like the low rear spoiler, which I think should look great with the wicker bill option. The Z07 car looked great and the rear wing is awesome.

In pictures I was not a big fan of the Z06 wheels (regular wheels not the carbon fiber wheels). However, in person the wheels looked much better. I had plans to get aftermarket wheels but not now. This was my biggest pleasant surprise. Carbon fiber wheels on the Z07 car looked super trick and awesome!

I really liked the front splitter and side skirts in carbon fiber. 100% I will be checking that box. I REALLY like the front winglets on the Z07 car! I wish that was an option for the "regular" car.

Interior looked great! No issues at all.

I actually really like the wishbone coming off the doors.......personal preference, but for me it looked great!

Overall the Z06, both the "regular" and Z07 car, looked great! It isn't as far removed from the C8 Stingray in terms of looks as people might think, and I have a feeling that might disappoint some, but for me they tweaked it just enough in the right places to "fix" what I personally didn't like about the Stingray. Of course the X factor is that magnificent engine. Well done Chevy!

I also just got back from SEMA. This was the first opportunity for me to see this particular silver, and it looked good. I am on the macmulkin list, and would definitely consider this color. My wife and I were in the right place and time
to see chevrolet bringing the cars into the lot. I cannot add much to what you have already posted. My wife is very excited to be getting this car, as am I.

HI, the silver Z06, did it indicate what finishing wheel was on that car? I'm thinking machine face?

You can add Z07 aero to the base car.

I saw the car at Petersen and I liked the new wheels. The interior is identical to the Stingray.

I like the new front body colored splitter and especially the new low rear wing. It also looks better with a wider rear track. Its something you really can't appreciate in photographs.

When it comes to aero options I suspect that you can't order a combination from GM that will unbalance the car. That doesn't mean that you can't order parts through GM and mount your own or that after market stuff won't enable you to mess up the balance.

Having said that, I suspect that if you stay under 150MPH you should be fairly safe. But I never underestimated the ability of Walter Mitty to screw up a soup sandwich!!

Long way of saying what looks good to your eye maybe aerodynamically unbalancing. Please be careful with what you do

So yes.......however, once you see the difference then you know.......if you look at the C7s the Z06 has a much more pronounced "bulge" at the rear end, which is why I think it's more obvious. The C8 Z06 doesn't have the same pronounced bulge as the C7 (I think the width difference from the Stingray to Z06 is very close between the C7s and the C8s), which to me is why it isn't as obvious, but have no doubt once you know then it's clear it's wider. This is just my opinion, I'd be curious to hear what other people think.

But let there be no doubt, the Z06 looks great! From every angle it looks better than the base C8 in my opinion. Put it this way, it solidified my decision to buy a Z06........if I can actually get one.
