At what price point do you move onto another brand?

Le Mans Master
I dont think I would move to another brand as a substitute. I would just get the Stingray instead. I want a Corvette.

All in $150,000 or less. Normally, I would look at a used Porsche Turbo S but, the price delta is close to a new one these days.

October 2020 I bought my 2015 Porsche 911 Turbo S cabriolet CPO with 39K miles for $114,900. It is a 991.1 and at that price I could not pass it up.
At that time CPO 991.2s could be had for $140-$150K.
The 991.2 which started in 2017 has 20 more hp and larger turbos making it a high 9 to low 10 second car @upper 130s to 140 with nothing more than a tune and exhaust.
CPO 991.2s can not be had now for under $160-$170K right now and most likely $170-$200K, absolutely ridiculous.
These are crazy times...
People are paying $100K for a Shelby GT500, I love Mustangs, but it is a Mustang for $100K.
$100K for a base C8, ridiculous.
I will say, if you can find a CPO 991.1 at $130-$135K or CPO 991.2 Turbo S now at 140K-$150K rather than waiting on a C8 Z06 for that amount or more, jump on it.
AWD is a revelation and makes it insanely fast and safe at the same time.

Are there many, many differences? Of course. I track my cars and know all about the differences between racing and street vehicles, and they are numerous.
But, it is not a hotted up GMC truck engine, either, and as we sit today, no one makes anything like it. Ferrari, Porsche, MB and others do not make naturally aspirated V-8's anything like this anymore. Further, as the highest horsepower naturally aspirated V8 ever put in a production car, there may have not been anything truly like it, ever.

I'm no big baller, I'm out at $100k. For me it's just a toy in the garage and so that's my cap. I'm a bit of a purist, I just want the CAR, it would be a 1LZ coupe. In all reality I could pay whatever they charge, but any car is only worth so much to me. I wouldn't go to something else, I would be happy to stay with the 2020 Stingray that's out in my garage right now.

Turbo S pricing is out of hand right now.

120k max.
It's going to be close to there starting price. Hopefully MM keeps their word on selling at MSRP. That's what i'm banking on.

The Turbo S with exhaust, I am running a 2.5" x-pipe, is a fun car especially with the top down.
After I do my tune and full exhaust after my CPO warranty is over (I am still running stock cats) it will be even more fun.
After that intercoolers and maybe larger Turbos and it will be insane.
That 65 Shelby looks fun, but I wouldn't want to daily it.
I am really hooked on AWD, I can't see going back to a rwd car ever again, the safety is my main priority, I must be getting old, lol.

Please, let’s not let all the Richers give the bean counters a reason to price the car out of the average guys affordability range.
Having said that I fully expect to be out the door with my 1LZ with one or two minor options, museum delivery and after 10% sales tax for under $100k.
After that there’s the possibility of a pre-owned 458 or a much wimpier yet totally awesome eye catching Emira.

The used car crazy prices I would think would normalize in two to three years. By then, above $125K there are a lot of other brands I would consider. I have been brand agnostic, but I doubt any will be FPC in that price point, and the overall value proposition will make me want to go with the Z06.

Base price at MSRP.

I can't think of anything under $100k, that I don't already have (C7Z and C5Z), that I would rather have than the C8Z. I'm thinking of toys like a turbo LSX RX7, turn key GTM, SLC, or 818, but I have issues with each of those that steer me away. The only thing I can think of that I'd rather have is a 720S. Before this insane market a used one was $225k minimum. I don't even care to look at what they're going for now, so that's not a realistic option. If a 2LZ, painted aero, museum delivery is too much over $100k I'm out.

I really don't want to go any higher than 130. Problem is this will be a mass produced car and there will be tens of thousands out there eventually. The value just will not hold. I know you should never buy a car as an investment but as it's going you could spend some more money and get a P or F car and enjoy it for a few years then sell it for probably what you paid since it has already depreciated. Just my logic. Doesn't mean it's right for everyone.

A huge part of Corvettes success is based on its attainability along with their success of selling volume(for a sports car). They need to maintain this in order to be successful long term. I see a lot of responses with big prices or unlimited budgets but GM wants to keep this going after the first couple years and through this weirdo economy that we currently have.
Part of my love of my C7Z(and other corvettes I have had in the past) is their amazing value. Nicely equipped I paid 78k brand new in 2018. I’d be dissappointed if that same car were too much over 100k. I’m hoping for and expecting the car will start with a roughly 90k MSRP. That said, I’m going to spec the **** out of this car this time and would hope with Z07 and everything I want I’d be around $130K. Beyond that, I don’t think I’d be a buyer.
