I know Corvettes aren't as rare as Vipers and they still make Corvettes but the ICE Corvette days are numbered and there will always be way more Corvette buyers than Viper buyers... Just look at the demand for the C8 Z06 being almost sold out before the first customer delivery. One could argue that the C8 Z06 is already rare no less the Z07. Depending on my circumstances when my number is called to order my Z06, I may just keep my Stingray in addition to the Z07 or trade in the C8 Stingray and get another prior gen Corvette or some other Sports car convertible for more frequent use and then just put another lift in the garage.
As I am 3 or 4 model years down on the Z06 wait list the ZR1 should be out by then, could be a decision to be made at that point, Z06 w Z07 package or ZR1 if the prices are close which is probably unlikely.
1000 hp hybrid C8 ZR1 all wheel drive should be the ultimate goal for Chevrolet, it seems as if the architecture was designed to support it.

I went down that line of thinking on the ZR1 too... It might actually be quicker to get a ZR1 if you get on a list now. Honestly though, I really want the NA FPC and over time the Z06/7 may be just as desirable as the ZR1 for that very reason. Could very well be a case of less is more...

I wish they offered a non-carbon fiber aero package. I just don't need my aero pieces made out of expensive carbon fiber.

Z07 suspension settings:

15% reduction in damping front & rear.

This is to off-set the lighter wheel/rotor combination.

No Z07 package for me. I'll get the aero, but that is it.

I'll take the aero but no Z07. I want it to be a comfortable driver and I don't think I'll be missing anything on the track with the softer suspension. I'm sure it's going to handle amazing to me regardless of the spring rate.

I need to see the price points, but I'm looking at this in part as an investment. The following ZR1, Zorra or whatever will be amazing cars, but this will be the last pure gas powered one at this level, which will make it collectable. Also, AWD is nice for launch times, but I'm a fan of light front ends, so I'd rather have nothing up there rather than batteries and motors that add an extra 200-300 lbs.

GM has stated a few times that the carbon wheels handle pot holes and such better than the aluminum. Even so, if they are wrong, or you exceed there pot hole standards, it would be a high price to pay to replace. I'm still waiting to see the cost.

Take it to your local Chevy dealer.... If they sell Corvettes, they should have the tools and training to do it properly, if not, they can get you a replacement wheel.

They do last forever if you don't track and the rotors don't get chipped, there is that I suppose but for the price you could probably buy an awful lot of new iron rotors and semi-metallic pads.
And that part there is what I've always heard and why I would want them. Overkill for the street? Sure, but if they last forever on the street, seems like a win/win.

If I were to track the car, I'd probably swap in some steel rotors, but I wonder if they would fit and work since I think I saw the two options are different sizes.

I agree sir. I got a Ferrari dealer to change my tires on my CF wheels. No one would touch them. My dealer's disclosure stated when I received my car that He would not touch the wheels.

You might not get a vote about ordering a Z07! I literally ordered and received the first C7 Z06 in WA State a and took delivery in December of 2014. When my car was being built, the Z07 package was "on hold" due to parts shortages so if I wanted one, I wouldn't have gotten it!

On the visualizer, there is an option for carbon flash aero.

That just means the CF aero pieces are painted; they're still CF.

Not a huge fan of Carbon Ceramics for track work so "most likely" getting Z06 with the full Z07 aero.

I can always upgrade the suspension springs later if I need to.

I could change my mind....

Wouldn't comprehensive auto insurance cover the cost of the damaged wheels?

And based on my unfortunate experience: it counts as a "collision" on your record. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

I am leaning towards the z07 package, but wish the Pilot 4S were an option since it will strictly be a street car for me.

I am guessing around $12k for the z07 option excluding the CF wheels. Am I in the ballpark?
