flat plain crank engine
There have been problems with this engine when they are bigger then 4 liters. Do you think General Motors has tested this engine extensively enough to see how well it will hold up..

Nope. I bet they just got it running a couple of months ago and figured they would just send it.

Everyone knows testing is what the first MY is for.

Melting Slicks
Testing at least 24 hours straight with almost constant full throttle applications:
Kidding (or half kidding)-- as obviously a race motor with big budget parts that gets rebuilt/replaced multiple times a season is not a good comparison to a street motor expected to last 100ths of thousands of miles (although very few Corvettes actually will see that many), but I suspect GM is pretty comfortable in their ability to make the motor work, or they have budgeting in paying lots of warranty costs. You can bet the street motor is tested plenty as well..

The C8.R racing (almost won 24 hours of Le Mans) and the many hours in test mules should help. From the Nurburgring and other spy videos they're really beating the tar out of the drivetrain. It will be a big win for Corvette of they can make a (relatively) durable 5.5L FPC 9,000 RPM engine.
I'm eager to hear about the final engine specs on October 26. The actual displacement, RPM, materials (hearing about magnesium on the internet rumor mill but who knows) and so on. How it will handle vibration. Sure sounds good.

Curious to see how they will handle the vibration. My F430 had a noticeable vibration until it warmed up. I knew that going in so it didn't bother me but those new to FPC are in for a surprise. Maybe it won't be an issue. My F430 was a 2007. I'm sure tech has been improved greatly since then.

It is a flat plane crank as in the crank will sit flat on a table in the plane of the tabletop. I'm pretty sure there is nothing plain about it. I'll bet there is a special balancer and special motor mounts. Or maybe it will shake itself apart at 5000 miles.

Thats what the GT350 owners thought of the matter as well and look where it ended up...

Obviously OP several of us are being sarcastic, but you have to admit that was a pretty ridiculous question so a few of us are not sure if are being serious especially given this topic has been talked about in countless threads now.

gm does some pretty extensive testing
read the Heart of the Beast and follow that forward to current SAE number and durability testing
and yes the ls7 was tested to all get out. Read about the source of the valve train failures running on an orbitron that pretty conclusively showed what was happening
engines were buzzed a bit past 7, valve seat bounce and springs get weaker and the valve bounce then occurs at lower rpms.
the LT5 did some pretty good durability testing when it set the 24 hour record. stock engine.
gm isn't the best but they do some pretty good testing and invest heavily in it.
you've seen the mules running around right?? Also peak in the dyno room

I hope it's not flat plain. My college girlfriend was flat and plain, and I didn't like it one bit.

Nope. GM has no idea what they're doing and need to start getting help from experts on the internet.

This has already been discussed ad nauseum in other existing threads. Please do a search before posting a new thread which clutters the forum.
Also, it's flat plane crank, not plain.

It will be tested rigorously just like the LS7 and LT4 were..
Seriously though, if you have concerns wait 24-36 months to buy one after we know if there are issues. There are lots of C7 Z06 owners who wished they waited.
