says the guy with 6 posts lol. Your statement does nothing to answer the question. My question wasn’t about my feelings, or if I should continue to participate in a forum. It was how the masses will react to a car with less power then the outgoing car and no low end torque. A car they designed around 2 sets of golf clubs to appease the masses.
Also laughable that you think ‘the masses’ will suddenly run away from a Z06 just because it has less HP, not to mention your position that it and TQ are the only factors in performance.
Maybe go Google the video of the Z06 doing standing start tests at Milford before assuming the folks on the Corvette team haven’t evaluated that aspect.
But the icing on the cake is that you claim the masses will revolt in your opening sentence, while claiming the car was designed for the masses in your closing statement. The irony in that clearly slipped right by you.

Tadge was talking about chassis dynamics--the ability of the car to use as much tire and HP as one can fit.
Moving the engine to the middle means that the great big tires at the rear are doing more of the lateral loads and more of the braking while giving the driver a better sense of what is happening at the 4 contact patches.
The mid engine design point does allow for taller and wider engines without disturbing the drivers view out the front.
This enables DOHC which is taller.
This enables Turbos which are wider.
or Both !
This removes chassis flex from the engine and transmission for better steering feel.
This can allow for smaller front tires which also give better steering feel.
This puts the CoG closer to the center of tire contact pressure reducing the "snappiness" of entering and leaving slides.

More power and torque continuing to use a forced induction power plant, or equal or even slightly less hp using an N/A powerplant?

Again, if you read the ZERV posts, ESPECIALLY the ones that have been deleted (screen shots have recently been posted), you would see the total difference in access between the original and the 02 account.

Imagine being a guy that thinks older sports cars bring no enjoyment and have no value.
Performance is about real-world numbers (eg. lap times), not car-n00b "horsepower". Shedding weight, proper gearing, brakes, aero, etc. all influence this. Not just horsepower.
Also, seems like 90% of CF members (not even counting non-Corvette car enthusiasts) agree that horsepower is not the 'end-all-be-all': https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...our-order.html

I own my C5 Z06 because it's only 3,100 lbs, has plenty of power for the weight (405hp), feels raw/connected to the road, and is manual. As a result, it also had one of the fastest Nurburgring times of any sports car when it was released. Another Corvette like it will never be made again. For that reason, I'll NEVER sell it. I also have a deposit down on the C8 Z06, troll.

Roughly speaking, a 2000 pound car with 250 HP is more fun* than a 4000 pound car with 500 HP.
(*) if for no reason other than it being more nimble

i know all about the C5Z. I owned one for a brief period 15 years ago. It was nice for its time, and if I was hellbent on a track car I would prob buy one, pull some weight out and not feel bad about abusing a 20k car at the track, And your link to the “poll” is worthless. Everyone with the ability to actually purchase one knows they can sell the car for a huge profit if they don’t like the car. A poll asking if people would prefer 675hp vs 750hp would be more accurate to the convo. Part of me wants the car to be NA and 615hp. I will def pass on that and you guys can all get each other off cause you got your Na then ponder how to make it faster cause it’s lacking. No way this car will be less then 3650lbs.
As for the point... of the two, I'd prefer the NA 675hp... BUT.... I just don't see Chevy coming out with a 5.5L NA FPC V8 at 122hp per liter AND making it live. I will be flat out amazed if that's what they have done.

Agree. Everyone knows you can flip one easily, you'd be a fool to not. Hell, I'll get mine and very likely flip it regardless.

I am a track rat and am really looking forward to the ZO6. Live 10 miles from the NCM track and plan to visit often.
Too much hate in this world. Just enjoy it and love it. We are in the best of corvette times.
The team will do their usual best possible job. It if does not meet your sorry expectations don't buy it . Just stop hating and trashing it.

Count me in in the NA department track rat. Forced induction sucks. If you need numbers to bench race, or worst yet, street race, good for you. Forced induction sucks for tracking a car.
