If GM cared about track folks they'd make the Z07 available with iron rotors and aluminum wheels. But some are saying they have to tune the springs/shocks/bars to the lighter rotor/wheel package which make sense. They'll probably bundle it all, but fingers crossed for a "trackday" kit with a 1LZ with the Z07 with standard wheels and brake rotors.

Both wheel designs - standard and Z07 - are a nice step up. At least for GM. 5-spoke is simply iconic and the split-spoke is a good look as well. Glad to see decent wheels coming.
Now, if they'll only make the carbon wheels and the carbon brakes stand-alone options that would be perfect.

Unlikely. There will be a different standard wheel for the Z06, then this Carbon Fiber wheel will be an additional option, likely requiring the Z07 package as well. The normal wheel is a completely different design, we have caught glimpse's of the spokes through the wheel coverings previously.
I don’t think it’s happening either but in order to keep costs down I could see them offering carbon fiber wheels as part of the Z07 package in painted carbon flash, with exposed carbon fiber being offered as an option.
I thought I read Ford doing something similar with either the GT350R or GT500 with track pack.
GM has done similar things with carbon fiber parts in the past as well, offering them in an exposed finish as an extra cost option. Plus, it helps with the manufacturer's yield as the wheels that can’t exactly make the cut from an aesthetic standpoint of being offered in exposed carbon fiber can be painted instead. That could potentially bring costs down for both the painted and exposed carbon fiber wheels, which I’m sure everyone’s aware is a very high dollar item.

You can be sure that there is only one reason this car is there! And that is to do a lap or two before the race starts. Just like Team Corvette has done the same one or two lap exposure at Laguna Seca. I have been to the 24HR of LeMans before and the race track is actually a majority of public roads used by the public all the way up to practice, qualifying, and race time. I assume Oliver Gavin will do the driving of this with Tadge Juechter in the passenger seat right before when there are 300,000 plus spectators. After all this is Tadge's baby and the French race fans love Corvettes. Oliver Gavin most likely is doing testing on the ZO6 at the ring and will be at the race to help the promotion of the ZO6 and his new Corvette Driving school in Germany to the Europeans. I hope this is what will take place in some form or other.

Not a fan of the dive planes or rear spoiler. I'll withhold full judgement until I see the actual reveal from Chevrolet. Right now I don't see myself moving over to a Z06 but never say never. 😁

Since all Camaro 1LEs come standard with forged wheels it shouldn't be too much to ask that these standard rims be forged as well. Better for the street, and better for the track guys that don't want the headache and expense of tracking CF wheels.

I agree. My cts v has forged wheels which are really nice looking also from gm as standard. I expect nice forged wheels to be the standard z06 wheel. Not that cast Chinese crap they gave us on the c7 Z.

Looking at the two unscreened openings on either side of the center, i would guess those are brake ducts. Center is for additional cooling radiators. I wonder how they will channel all that additional airflow out.

C8Z wheel looks to have decent offset/backspace but in a good way....not all 'drum' like C7Z's 12" wheels with over 9" of backspace. Camaro ZL1 12" wheel has a tick over 8" of backspace.
