Fascinating question. IMO there will be a Corvette "street" model labeled as a GT3. S/B powered by the DOHC NA engine at a full 5.5lt but somewhat adapted for the street. Given the BoP requirements t5he street engine could have more peak HP?

That was going to be the case regardless.

I don’t understand the relevance of this information regarding the z06 either? It’s been screamed from the mountain tops for what seems like years now that the z will be na fpc 5.5l v8. How does this change anything? Seriously.

I think perhaps this could be the basis for a "real" Z06 option that actually means something

Z06 Option Code - Corvette GT3
ZR1 Option Code- Corvette GT2

This article is relevant because you can't race GT3 without selling the car to the public...can't remember the ratio

Don't overthink the GT3 thing. Corvette is already racing in GTE/GTLM which has production car requirements. The GT3 race car has a few other requirements that the GTLM car doesn't, but this doesn't change much and won't impact the street car.

I doubt there will be a "GT3" model of the Corvette, as they'll keep the same Corvette tradition for Z06 and ZR1.

Keep in mind, we've already had Corvette GT1, GT2, GTE/GTLM, and DPI cars. And GM has had a Caddy GT3 and a Camaro GT4 car. None of those translate as models to the street (in terms of model names/offerings, they do follow whatever production based parts rules that were in place at the time).

If there is a GT3 package for the street car in the future, I would expect it to be stickers, like the previous race-named packagers are.

The past is what it was. The future has a "new normal". If you look at the Porsche GT3 versions, ~400k for the racing version and a street GT3 you have a possible marketing model for GM. The label would tie closer to the racing program and still satisfy the occasional track guys or the street "Walter Mittys". Many of the mechanics would be the same as anticipated/desired by this site for the occasional track version BUT the marketing pitch would be different.

As you remember, MM LT5 limit was around 600hp with much less torque and it was not "clean". Current technology, I'd say 650 hp (clean for the street) and that is a stretch.

I read this as Corvette working to materialize a GT3 car as early as 2023. Back log and all I still don't think Chevrolet will wait that long to introduce the Z06...

It doesn't. IMSA gave GM a 2 year 'free pass'.

I disagree. There will absolutely be a GT3 model, it will just be a 10k sticker package.
