Z06 Delayed until 2023 MY

True, however we have nothing to prove that was the original plan either, and we have someone with proven connections and a history of good insights whose been telling people for months not to expect the car as soon as people were hoping for. I trust his word over the authors of GM Authority who frequently make click bait articles based on pure speculation.

In July 2019 they announced the 2020 C8 with plans of delivering cars in December of 2019. By that logic people could have 2023 Z06's by December 2022 if it's a 2023 model. I think the soonest they can sell a 2023 model would be around April of 2022.

I bought my 2019 Grand Sport in May 2018. So in theory, they could announce the Z06 toward the end of this year and start production of 2023 models in early 2022. First deliveries could happen about a year from now.

Not to mention that releasing the car delayed means other brands have surpassed performance by then, given the fast pace of sports car/supercar development these days.

JVP knows so I'll repeat what's been said for far too long. THE CAR IS NOT DELAYED. THE CAR IS NOT FINISHED. BASE MODEL SALES AND/OR PLANT SHUTDOWNS HAVE ZERO TO DO WITH WHEN THE CAR WILL BE REVEALED. GM WILL REVEAL THE CAR WHEN IT'S DONE NOT A MINUTE SOONER AND NOT A MINUTE LATER. This is not coming from someone who knows that. It's coming from (2) sources who the forum and others are in agreement have the knowledge. JVP and John at MECF. Let them get it right.

Not so sure it is as fast as you state with all the problems through the world in car manufacturing/supply chains.
I am waiting for the Z06 but some of the other cars I would "move on to" are having the same issues. For example, Mercedes Benz did not even offer their AMG GTR for 2021 and people are waiting for the announcement of the supposed 2022 AMG GTR with hybrid AWD with over 650 hp. This is the same (IMHO) as the Z06 logistics/announcements for the new model. AMG fans are hoping for the announcement of the next gen AMG GTR AWD hybrid but who knows if it will be 2022 or 2023 or not even come to market even though news reports before Covid stated it would be a 2022 model. It is not just GM and the Z06 but many companies have the exact same issue.

When they set up production and contracts to make parts, they know they need x number of units to sell over y period of time to recover z cost, hopefully at z+profit.
If they were planning on say, a 4 year run, and they only get 3, the car costs more per unit to make and they make less profit or worse, lose money on it.
It's not like they're just sitting on a completed car and just waiting to drop it on the market when demand slows. This stuff is plotted out years in advance by finance and manufacturing experts who are way smarter at this than any of us are.

And let's be very clear before anyone (else) asks: I do NOT know when the car is coming out. I just know (and have known for some time) when it isn't.

And people may sub a Porsche or similar for the Z06 while they wait, but I think many will come right back to the Z06 once it's available. Right now there just isn't anything on the market that gives the performance per dollar as the C8.

And many of those other cars have super long wait times as well right now. The current C8 matches performance of cars costing 2x as much, I have no doubt the Z06 will equally run, or outrun, cars costing 2x as much. People who are going to drop $250k on a car are going to drop $250k on a car, I doubt many are on the Z06 list and will suddenly decide to double their spend.

Ally is slow as they review the wire to ensure accuracy (a good thing). When I have placed wires with them, in the AM its normally 4-6 hours later that it is received.

Tadge said in one of the interviews that the Z06 would arrive summer time about the time models traditionally start switching over to next model year (2023). Up until covid that was normally mid/late summer for most manufacturers.
