458 old AF
Incredible car. But old AF
I admit a few years back I shopped them but now idk I'd have to go for a 488 minimum.

Personally consider a 458 a modern day classic. If I won the powerball tomorrow and could afford as many cars as I basically want, a 458 would definitely be in the collection over a 488.

Or as my daughter always says "por qué no los dos" when given two options. I really like the 458, but would pick the 488 first. But like having a super hot model girlfriend, "I wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating crackers" if left with *only* the 458.

Guess the point I was making is if you want and can afford the “latest and greatest” already and have a car or multiple cars like that in the collection, I’m picking the 458 over the 488. If I had to pick either the 458 or the 488 only, it would be a tougher choice.

Cruising
2021 C8 Z51 vs 2021 F8
I am fortunate to own both. They each have their strengths. My wife and I alternate driving them after the 6pm EST news. We live in South Beach, Miami Beach. It takes our minds off the problems of the day as we listen to music and watch all the people here to have fun. The C8 is my 20th Corvette. When I was 10, I saw the introduction add for the 63 Vette. I was in love. Every time I walked by one, I would circle it several times an dream of owning one. My mother supported three boys with me being the oldest. When I was 15, I started work full time and bought a 65 roadster that had been raced and beat up. I restored it over a year. The engine blew the forth day that I had it. For six months I keep the battery charged and would sit in it waiting until I could afford a new 327 engine from a wretched chevy. Years later as I was building my business, among other years, I owned both a 1990 and a 2010 ZR1. The 2010 ZR1 was so rough to ride in my wife insisted I try an used Ferrari (I found a mint F430 spider that rode very well). We agreed - No more vettes. She saw an airline magazine ad for a Rapid Blue C8. She fell for it as I had fallen for the C2 series. (I bought her a 65 about ten years ago but she just rides along knowing the joy I get sharing it with her.
We love them both and appreciate being in a position of there making our retirement a real joy. We just enjoy both of them for what they are. They helped get was threw a very rough year with two covid related family member deaths last year. They always bring joy into our lives and make us appreciate the best points in life. For those of you debating getting the C8, do not miss out on the joy it can bring you!

It’s really hard to say at this point. Nobody knows what the final specs are even, and for sure nobody has driven one. It will be comparable, I’m sure. All the pundits will give the overall nod will go to Ferrari, because they don’t buy them of pay to maintain them. The Z06 will be cheaper, well-built, more reliable, and cost less to maintain. That will be lost on the typical pundit.

The 458 is the greatest car I have ever driven by far. The guy I bought my 996TTS from owned one and when I went to pick up the 911 it was having some issues so we swapped cars on a spirited back road drive. My god. I didn't want the 911 so much after that. If the c8 Z06 comes remotely close to that experience, I'd be ecstatic. Someone mentioned the radio above, I took a video while I was driving and really wanted to capture that amazing engine sound but couldn't figure out how to turn off the stupid radio. 13 yo car my ***, the 458 is a masterpiece. I've also driven a 430, 360 and 355. The 458 was light years beyond anything that came before. Sure the Z06 will be faster, I'm not so sure it will put the same grin on my face the 458 did.

Yah, not interested in a V6 whether it's Ferrari, McLaren, Acura, Nissan, or whomever. Or all electric for that matter, I want a V8 or at least a hybrid V8. ICE engines can be a lot like musical instruments. If someone forced me to choose a V6, I'd consider the Maserati MC20 which I'm sure will be slower than the Z06 & ZR1. Get your C8s, GT500s, and hellcats while you can I guess.

I, too, would prefer a 458 over a 488. I like simplicity!

Honestly the 458 is pretty amazing, if the C8 Z06 is in that ballpark then it's going to be great.
The 458 is a bit on the old side now but prices have been rising on them again. They are in demand because they don't have turbos and I think they are going to be a classic for sure.
