Z06 Manual Possibility?
I’m sorry but is there any chance we’re going to see a manual for the Z06 or any C8? I have watched the recent YouTube video talking about this over and over and it certainly sounds like a manual. I also remember reading about the GM patent about shift by wire. It’s been beaten to death but I’m still really hoping.

GM camp was very deliberate in saying the C8 “STINGRAY” would never have a manual...which could mean the C8 as a whole or just the base Stingray. I would love if the C8Z came with a manual, but the interior design of the C8 leads me to believe we will not see a manual in this interior (unless it gets modified for the Z06) due to the sloped armrest upward to the mode selector, and the interference from the climate control button waterfall “wall” between driver and passenger.

Above zero, but below 1%.

It doesn’t sound like it. I’ve been watching a ton of videos on the C8 since last week after putting down a deposit on one. From my understanding the car was built around the DCT transmission tunnel. Just sold my 17Z M7 and am hoping the car lives up to all the hype😁

There is no physical real estate for a shifter in the C8. There will NOT be a manual in the 1st gen C8, regardless of model.

It will be a special order option. Due to space constraints, it is going to be a "three on the tree" type design with three forward gears and a reverse. Whitewalls will be available for the optional 15 x 5.5" steel wheels. Sadly you will have to use modern radial tires.
You just can't have everything.

Guessing everyone has seen the test mule video, it’s on Brink of Speed, that sure sounds like a manual transmission to me when it leaves from the stop sign.

Probably not :(
I agree the video as it sure sounds like it...and I got all excited !
Then I came back down to earth.
Chevy may be testing a manual; but it doesn't mean the car will come w/ a manual.
All of the arguments about take-rate are valid; and it just doesn't make a business case to have that as a low preference option.
Beyond that, the central tube w/o violation is important for chassis rigidity-our Vette's sills are much lower than competitions for easier entrance/egress.
Plus, there is the rumored (pencilled-in) use for battery placement for the Zora

Won't happen. They're not going to ruin the c8 with that.

Drifting
They made comments about the pedal box not being designed to be large enough for 3 pedals and the interior certainly doesn't look like it found support a traditional shifter, so I'd say pretty unlikely.

I think the only way I think they could package it within the structure of the car is if they did it without the physical linkages. So in other words, a manual simulator (ie. "by wire" that you mentioned) that basically told the DCT where to shift based on where the manual stick shift lever was positioned (and a clutch pedal would be unnecessary in this case). If this is the case, kind of gimmicky but might be somewhat more engaging than paddle shifters.
People said the same thing about electric power steering when it first came out, but now it's been pretty perfected and still allows for good driver engagement with the road. Also GM pulled off brake by wire really well.

NO. This has been discussed to no end.
