Default Where's all the aftermarket cammed C8s?

Big choppy camshafts have been a staple of modified corvettes forever.. so why does the C8 seem to be the exception?

^^That pricing is just WOW. They want $6300 for their Stage 1 package with a claimed 510hp. Basically consists of a Halltech intake, Katech throttle body, some other misc. inexpensive items and the HPTuners tuning. If you had to surmise what cost they are putting on the tuning itself it looks like thousands. Like $3,000. WTF. At least it comes with a serialized dash plaque. I hope the plaque says "I hate money" somewhere on it.

The ecu just got opened. Just a matter of time. And maybe warranty period?

Yeah, but it won't be cheap by any means. $14,999 from Katech for a heads and cam package with tuning. Claimed 565hp. The site certainly seems to imply that these prices are inclusive of installation but I'm almost afraid to ask.

15 horsepower for $6300. Headers not needed for each build it appears unless I missed it. Since I already have those simple bolt-ons all I need now is a tune I suppose. I don't think shops are ready to do a (tune only) at this moment. Probably, just package builds.

My C7 builder and tuner … has NOT said … yes let’s do it to my heads/cam bolt on C8. That says a lot. I’m waiting. EVERYONE should right now

The ECU unlock is $1,500, The credits needed are $400, Required MPVI3 cable is $400, Shipping too and from HP Tuners, and actual dyno time.

No one is getting rich tuning C8's other than HP Tuners....

makes me wonder how a big cam will work on a DCT transmission, since it doesn't have a torque converter ?

Unless they are raising the Redline/fuel cutoff, tuning is not even needed for those parts. The stock ECU will accommodate them just fine.

Tuning for the C8 will be almost identical to the 2019 ZR1. You have to remove the ECM and ship it to HP Tuners. Then pay HP Tuners an "unlock" fee of probably $1500 just for the ability to tune it. Then it takes 10 credits @ $50 each for a total of $2000 before you have even spent a second on the dyno. Turning a c8 will be $3000-$4000 just like a 2019 ZR1.

Considering C8s are 435-440 whp stock, that's a hard no. An intake and a throttle body with tuning is not going to give you a 75whp gain. WTF

Not familiar with a flat plane crank engine. Are there different considerations for changing/tuning camshafts with a flat plane as opposed to a cross plane? I understand the vibrations are inherent in the design as is. I would imagine the engineers took that into consideration when choosing the best design not only for power but vibration. Will reliability be suspect?

You are correct......not even close. Just maybe 20 rwhp but look at the cost. I believe Late Model Racing is working on their tune for a c8.

A 510hp package for $6000+ makes zero sense. You can DIY an intake and headers and be at (or slightly above) that. Wideband oxygen sensors will easily accommodate those changes and you'd be in it for under $3K. It only makes 'sense' if you are planning to do one of the later stages and just want to do it in stages (assuming of course that these packages include installation). That way, you would save a big chunk on the next stage I assume.
