Default Instrument display went dark

2022 C8 HTC. Drove thr car and evetything is fine. Stopped for dinner. Started the car...no instrument dispay. Side screen worked fine. Shut down and restarted..still black. Drove home without instruments. Shut it down. Came back out about 15 minutes and tried a restart. Instruments came on just fine. Anyone else have this issue?

I have had it happen twice now and it's also a '22 HTC. After the BCM shuts down it has come back just like yours. Just seems not to boot up correctly during the start cycle.

Shutting it down for 15 minutes - should also leave the door open but not sure it is absolutely necessary - forces all those pesky computers that control everything to reboot.

Seems to be common to the 22 HTC. I'll let you know if I find a cause and solution.

Tracking this as i have a 22 HTC. Are you able to see the Heads Up Display when this happens? Also, what's the mileage on your vehicle?

No HUD, I've got about 5500 miles on the car so far.

Default Instrument display went dark

I saw this on a response from Dave O: "If this happens again, try this to erase the car/computer cache. Start the car. Shut the car off. Then open the drivers side door for 90 seconds (and you have to have it open for no less than 90 seconds). Close door, start the car and the computer cache has now been reset."

The interesting thing is this may be what caused my first time. I had opened the drivers door to allow my wife to open the passenger side, then opened the frunk to put in some groceries. I wonder if having that door open for more than 90 seconds might have caused this.
