Default 600 hp

so far the new z06 has never gone down in HP compared to the last version. So 600 would be incorrect I’m gonna say 770-800. Suggestion to GM if ur gonna make. C8 ZR1 get it out earlier in the model run and not near the end of the production run for the C8

Because the C7Z was a stupid “GT” car to sit where the C6 ZR1 sat as they had no plans to make a C7 ZR1. It was heavy and got hot on track. Repositioning the Z06 to what it was in the C5/6 gen makes complete sense.

I think that ship has sailed. I think the GS filled that slot. From a market standpoint, I think we can expect the Z06 to at least maintain what the C7Z has with the good possibility of a bump in power (at least the same level as the base car). I fully expect the ZR1(Zora?) to be hybrid. IF the Z06 gets a TT/DOHC motor, I suspect the GS will get a NA version of it with more power than the LT2. I can see something like:
Base/Z51 = 495 with maybe a bump in two or three years to maybe as high as 520-525 (unlikely given they never did it with the C7).
GS = 550-600 DOHC
Z06 = 675-725 DOHC/TT
ZR1 = 800+ DOHC/TT/Hybrid

I am thoroughly confused as to the intended purpose/market for these three models. Please correct these impressions

GS Stock engine, upgraded track pkg
Z06 Ultimate track car engine and track package
ZR1 Ultimate street car

Is this the product description?

It was for the C6 Generation, but the C7 generation kind of switched the Z06 and ZR1 around. ZR1 was definitely the track car.

Not anymore... for the C7 the Z06 became a "do everything" car that could only take half a HPDE session in the summer with an expert driver. For the C7ZR1 they put 13 radiators on it and it's actually the better track car even with the extra 100 horsepower.

How GM chooses to position each Corvette will be interesting and if they even retain all of them.

I forgot to mention where does the 300 car production model run that qualifies the engine in the C8R fit? By the way, when does that produstion have to occur to keep the C8R on the track?

I don't know the answers to that.

Not sure of the timing, but they have to same base block and head design. So a twin turbo DOHC would meet the requirement. Based on what I have seen it would not have to have the same crank design.

IMSA lets the manufacturers play a bit fast and loose with that. If, for example, the C8.R engine was a bored out version of whatever the street engine is (so maybe the street engine is 5.2 or 5.0) and the street engine has turbos GM could probably get away with it being close enough.

I think the idea of the street engine being a bit smaller displacement to help with vibration for longevity and using turbos to get the power makes a lot of sense.

No problem with the variations permitted by IMSA, that's their ball game. I just want to know when will the 300 appear and on what model.

By the by, way back when Porsches built 50 917s before the first one was raced - but that's a whole 'nuther story. The FIA was tired of Ferrari's political games and finally got to where they could tell him, show me or go home. Whether all 50 917s were in any sense complete? Well, there were 50 bodies.

I'm in the "Back to track focused roots" camp.....Z06 will be a C8.R road car. ZR-1 will get the snails and Zora will get the Hybrid.

Hmmm... I'd always assumed the ZR-1 will be the Zora and not have two separate models there. I do agree with the power train break-out though:

1. NA DOHC FPC - Z06 or Grand Sport?

2. TT DOHC - Z06? If so, option 1 would be the GS

3. TT DOHC Hybrid AWD - ZR-1/Zora

ZR-1 is top dog. There will not be a separate "Zora" model above it. It might be called the "Zora ZR-1", but it won't be a separate model.

I think they'll drop the ZR1 and call it the "Corvette Zora"... has a Ferrari La Ferrari ring to it.

I could see something similar to that but adding in the Grand Sport and bringing the GS name back to the C2 times
GS - Track car with 5.5L NA flatplane crank......... 600 HP
Z06 - 700 HP TT 5.5L numbers car
ZR1 - 825 HP TT 5.5L
Zora - 1000HP hybrid assist monster that competes come close to hyper car levels.
