Red mist tintcoat touch up paint
Has anyone used the AC Delco Red Mist ( WA245F GPH ) touch up paint ? I have a 3/16 ding on my lower rocker that I need to patch up. How did the AC Delco Touch Up paint work for you ?

i’ve use duplicolor, original GM stuff in a small bottle, and I won’t use any touch up paint whatsoever unless it’s professionally mixed at automotivetouchup.com. they are the only guys I’ve ever used that match it exactly

me too
automotivetouchup.com is a good choice. Any metallic is a little tougher, but you got a small spot in a 'best' place for getting a good result.

Check out Dr Colorchip also. I have a small scratch on my red mist and a prior thread led me to purchase Dr Colorchip. I have the product in my garage but haven't put it on yet so I can't advise as to quality.

I tried it....
Seems to be OK color wise, but to me, any brush touch up, won't look that great.
Since yours is on the lower rocker, definitely give it a shot.
I ended up having a body shop hit my small gouge....
Came out flawless....!

I just had this same problem. I had a few paint chips on the front of my Red Mist Tintcoat. I ordered the AC Delco touchup pen, which always has worked very well for me. For some reason, with this color, it absolutely does not work. When it dries, it looks white / silver. I even ordered another one, from GM directly, and it too rendered the same results.
I ended up having the front end repainted, because my C8 is a show car. I asked my painter, why the touchup paint didnt work on this color, and he explained that its actually (3) colors that make up Red Mist. Its silver, a metallic tint and the red/burgundy color that is layered, and they need to be laid down in a certain order for the paint to match. In the touchup pen, they are all mixed together and the silver rises to the top when it dries which is why the end result (using the pen) looked silver.
I have heard others say that Dr Colorchips was a better alternative, however I have yet to hear anyone say they were able to successfully touch up a Red Mist chip. Bottom line - dont waste your money on the AC Delco pen for this specific color.

Here's the thread...... https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...not-match.html
The nail polish is Sally Hansen #470, Unbreakable Heart, I found it at Walmart. It does really look like it is going to match. My wife put it on her finger nail and held it against the car and it looked perfect.

I did some touch ups on the fibreglass passenger side step rail on a 2002 Roadtrek camper van a few years ago. Accidentally rubbed it along a pump island, trying to avoid a reckless driver in a truck stop parking lot. The original paint was color matched at a place in Montana, National Coatings in Billings, and it was an exact match. I had no idea what the paint code was, or where it came from, so the guy used a photo paint analyzer machine to create a small aerosol can of the exact color, which I found out was taken from an early '90s BMW color code 442, grey/green iridescent metallic. I got some uber-fine sandpaper and basic squeeze tube body filler from a nearby hardware store, did a clean/fill/fix, and applied a gentle but thorough sanding to smooth it out. Next day (no wind) I masked off the area above the step rail using a piece of carboard to block any over spray, and just did a few left/right passes to layer the paint and blend it with the rest of the undamaged painted areas. It turned out great, to my surprise. I eventually sold the camper several years later, the repainted area still looked perfect, and gave the new owners the partially used spray cans. Odd, they never asked what they were for.
So, if there's a National Coatings shop (or similar) near you, and you're looking for a DIY project, you might try something like what I did. Your "rubs" are in about the same location on your C8, as mine were on the step rail. Even a fair job will fool the majority of the public.
