Default PPF on headlights

I was wondering what the recommendations were for PPF on C8 headlights. When I had PPF put on my Porsche, it was recommended not to put it on the headlights, I believe because of the coating on them.

The C8 headlight does not emit heat nor do the LED running lights so there is no need to worry about trapping heat inside the lens when adding PPF. I added PPF to mine because it protects lens from getting messed up from road debris including rocks and sand.

^ I disagree; the lights do emit heat, and is the suspected cause for all of the internal streaking on the headlights. With that said, application of PPF is not the cause of said streaking.

That's not accurate. LEDs generate heat. And high power LEDs generate plenty of heat. Not as much as incandescent bubs of the same output, but they get hot enough there are fans built in to the assembly to keep them from overheating. But plenty of people put PPF on regular headlights without issue, so I don't think there will be an issue with the Corvette's LED lights, either.

Mixed Feelings.
I had a C7 for 9 years and I did not coat the headlights.
The Expel installer recommended not doing the headlights because they had a customer that needed to replace the headlights under warranty because of poor seals and the dealer made a mess of the expel.
The car was sent back to the expel shop for a complete hood covering replacement.
In 9 years and 24,000 miles the headlight surface on my C7 was OK

I have PPF on my C7s headlights - been there for 4.5 years and no issues.

I PPF the headlights on ALL my vehicles as soon as I get them home from the dealer. It stops oxidation in its tracks...

PPF on headlights should be a completely separate piece, not attached to any of the other PPF. So if a headlight needs to be replaced, they shouldn't have to touch the hood, fenders, or anything else.

That said, I agree with you about need. I've never ppf'd my lights and never had an issue.

Clearly you never turned on the lights then waited five minutes then put your hands on the lens. If you had you would know the lens aren’t hot.

^ wow, pretty incredible all of your night drives are under 5 minutes. And just because something isn't "hot, doesn't mean the absence of heat.

I never heard something so ridiculous in my life. In fact, I am dumbfounded by that statement. Second, if the bulb generated heat you would feel it in least than five minutes. And let’s not forget our conversation started with your statement, “I disagree; the lights do emit heat.” So you are now contradicting yourself.

My headlights had the streaking before I had the PPF applied.

I also do xpel on headlights after restoring them. They haze when the factory coating is gone, you can polish them out but they'll haze again quickly without another coating of clear. Easier imho to just slap PPF on them and it's basically a lifetime fix from what I've seen.

I'm pro PPF and if nothing else, every vehicle I'm involved with will at least have the headlights done. I get why they are plastic now but it just doesn't hold up, they get beat up fast and cost way too much to replace. PPF is very worthwhile on them.

Same thing when I had my 911 done 3 1/2 years ago. My trusted PPF guy claims he has issues with P's head lights so they did not due them....never had an issue with my C6, 7 or 8...yet.

22,500 miles on my PPF headlights with no problems except a few bruises to the ppf. Better than scratching the lens like my C6 and C7 did.

Nah, there's tepid, warm, shades in between, but not hot. Run an IR thermo at the corner of the lens and at then at the center of the bulb to see the temp difference.
