Mag ride Z51 vs plain Z51? [C8]
At our ages, neither of us like real stiff suspensions any more, so I seek actual experiece/opinions on this C8 topic. Thx.

I had a Z51 '84 [roughest riding production Vette] futher modified with Heimed rear susp, and all poly [no rubber] elsewhre, even I tired of the ride over time. Spouse refused to come along. She rather liked my c5, however.
While the 'challenge spec' factory rebuilt Bilsteins helped in some regards, the memory of it drives my query.

I had a 2014 C7 Z51 with mag ride. Honestly I noticed hardly any difference between tour and sport modes. My wife never noticed any difference. My 23 Z51 does not have mag ride and I really don't miss it. Of course I tend to prefer stiff suspensions. The ride on my C8 is definitely better than my Ram 2500 on any surface I would take a Corvette on. If I want cushy we can take my wifes Infiniti.

Mag ride makes the ride much more pleasingly compliant whether you have the Z51 option or not. ...and then so, in all 3 settings (Tour, Sport and Track).

Mag ride is one of my favorite options. I wouldn’t have the Z51 without it.

I have Z51 without Mag. I would not recommend this combination. I had several Corvette Racecars, C4 with Bilstien shocks, and the GM T1 suspension package on the C5.
Both racecars rode way better than my Z51 C8.
The shocks are just way too stiff on the C8. The rebound setting on the shocks is way high.
Every little bump or tar crack in the road you feel it.
I'm going to remove my Z51 shocks and put base level shocks and lowering springs on my car. That is how much I dislike the ride.

2023 C8 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
An articulate account as to why I too chose both Z51 and Mag Ride options.

Yes, at 6:40 he says it. Z51, no Mag "Some bumps in the road, It jars you a little bit more"
That's it. It hits you harder. Not better cornering, not faster, it rides rougher. It is too rough.
Of all the things they got right on this car, this is one where they missed the boat.

Burning Brakes
I have owned both. My first C8 had Z51 and Magride my current has just Z51 and no magride (dealer forgot to order it).
If I order a third C8 it will have the Magride again.
I miss the ability the Magride allows me to to tailor the ride for the mood I am in. When you put a Z51 with Magride into track the suspension feels so much more firm/tight. It makes the car feel like a go cart when changing directions and feels more stable at high speeds. On the other hand the ride is extremely hard and not something I would want to drive in for a long period of time.
When its in tour the ride is so comfortable and smooth. It just eats up bumps and rough roads with no trouble at all.
I miss the ability to switch between the two extremes. With my current non Magride Z51 the ride is by no means harsh. Its definitely livable but it just doesn't have that dual personality that Magride gives you. I miss it and would gladly pay for it on all future Corvettes.
