C8 Roof Gasket Faulty..Chunked Out 3 inch wide section
My buddy has a 2021 that is garaged in Ohio. Good weather driver. This week he took the top off and the rear roof gasket had a chunk BREAKOUT about 3 inches wide by its rear depth. WOW! It will be covered by his warranty planS BUT IS RIDICULOUS TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN. Even my national ZR1 expert was shocked to see the picture I sent him.
Anyone else have this experience (yet)? BE EXTRA CAREFUL it would seem as the Gasket Quality appears suspect. I wonder if any Tech Service Bulletin in for this yet???????
As mechanical engineer with over 40 yrs. experience I'm stunned.
I'll try to figure out how to post the picture off my cellphone text.

This is why I treat rubber roof gaskets with some type of protection/lubrication at least once every 2 years ever since having that happen to me on a '85. They can and will stick to the mating surface with heat and time. I use dielectric grease (sparingly) and have never had a problem since.

I haven't seen this reported before.

Never heard of failures other than mis-installation on C8.
I'd be more worried about something is getting in the seal and causing the sides to bond.

Weatherstrips
Apply weatherstrip lubricant on
weatherstrips to make them last
longer, seal better, and not stick or
squeak. Lubricate weatherstrips at
least once a year. Hot, dry climates
require more frequent application.
Black marks from rubber material on
painted surfaces can be removed by
rubbing with a clean cloth.

S**t happens... with any product (and, this is minor). Just, tell him to get it replaced, forget it, and go on.

You're supposed to lubricate door and roof seals annually... He should consider his warranty coverage as a friendly reminder.
I personally use Honda's Shin-Etsu grease, as I have since my S2000 days.
Please calm down with your "ZR1 expert" and mechanical engineer type comments

I'm stunned by all the capital letters for no reason and I have 12 years of home schooling experience!

IMO a rare occurrence, but things do happen. It’s a warranty item, so it will be fixed. Remind him to lubricate the weatherstripping and that should prevent any repeat damage, unless something else caused the tear.
