Default Mount tire rate

So how much is it to change a wheel by taking the tire off of a standard C8 wheel and placing the tire on a 20 spoke GM wheel. I’m told $100 per wheel including force balance.

That sounds like dealership prices. My mobile tire service guy charged me $150 (plus a nice tip) for all four….

I just had new tires and sensors put on new rims. The local shop wanted $100 each. I found a great shop in Miami $50 each. My wife just had new tires mounted on her Silverado $25 each at firestone. The Corvette tax is alive and well LOL.

I paid $200 for all 4 at a Chevy dealer, which included Road Force balancing. Work was performed by their Corvette Tech.

In my case, I was swapping out tires to all season tires on the same wheels. But same amount of work either way.

As of last summer, most tire shops in the Des Moines area no longer will perform those dismount/mounts on new aftermarket wheels, or new tires on OEM wheels UNLESS they sold you the wheels or the tires. They have stated they've run into too many customers claiming they damaged a wheel in the process. Not sure we have a mobile service in town, that would come to owner's home to perform such a service.

Had stock wheels removed, tires taken off and moved/mounted to new wheels along with sensors and valves, then balanced and put back on car for total $160 at Chevy dealer.

Prices are different in every part of the Country so what someone else paid has no bearing on what you will be charged in your local area. You simply need to call a couple of tire shops in your area to find out the going rate. And more IMPORTANT than price is the type and age of their equipment. I only use shops that have HunterTouchlessTire Equipment.

Discount Tire, if one is available, would be a good place to check. $400 to swap/balance four tires does seem high.

I’m told the cost of a touch less wheel and tire machine has risen to $39K so the $ amount has gone to $100 per wheel. I feel
its still paying a Corvette premium because the machine is used for other models as well and they are $30 per wheel. Just my opinion!!! However, I’m
moving on to other sources next time.

I bought tires for my Corvette through Tire Rack & used their mobile service. The mobile service was an independent company that Tire Rack uses for this purpose, long story short, the guy could not get the beads to seal on my new Michelin run flats so I ended up taking them to my local Chevy dealer who took care of it. They charged me $170. to finish the job & Tire Rack ended up paying for that

I had my dealer swap wheels and balance the tires at the PDI and they charged me $120 which seemed reasonable to me.

Told by whom? Source?

The cost of all tire equipment has gone up thanks to you know who. And these machines have been on the market for years and in many tire shops so I think you are jumping to a false concussion.

I can say someone who absolutely knows.
I know it’s not much but my source has impeccable credentials and is 100% trustworthy. Sorry it’s all I have. BTW my source also does top quality work not that it’s important to the $$.

I just had this done a few months ago at Discount Tire. Price was $192 plus tax ($48/wheel).

I was quoted from our new Discount Tires who uses Hunter Tire Equipment quoted me to unmount and remount and balance set of 4 wheels, total price $115.00+Tax.

I got that quote at the end of Feb of this year when I was considering buying a set of 19-Inch Front 20-Inch Rear 5 Split Spoke Satin Graphite Forged Aluminum Wheel with Machined Edge (Q9O) from a local seller.
