I don't consider theft to be an issue. If someone wants the car badly enough, they will figure out a way to take it. And USAA will replace the car. C8s have minimal theft value. No ready market for parts. Tough to sell. So joy rides are the only real thieve's motivation. C8s have decent anti theft protocols from the factory. Interior intrusion being a great one. Set off this feature and you'll understand what this baked in theft deterrence does. I did it inadvertently, scared the stuffing out of the turkey. We consider our C8 a car. Not a church. We don't worship it.

Cannot recall seeing anyone post about a C8 being stolen where the owner did not do something stupid like leaving the car running.
I would still use a faraday bag/box if it was me....

Iused the Solar throttle controller and set it to OFF so the throttle/gas pedal has no response. The engine will start and the car just sits there.

Exactly, as most cars are stolen to be stripped to sell for parts. So thieves tend to steal the vast produced mid-priced range models as there's much more demand for parts as opposed to sportscars and luxury vehicles.

We picked up our C8 in Maryland last year, and traveled to North Carolina then Oregon. 12 nights in motels, here is my method to find a good spot.
I look on Google maps the night before and go to the city where we want to stop, click on hotels. Find a few hotel brands that I like, then click on satellite view and look for a good parking spot.
We always pick a hotel close to the interstate away from congested downtown areas. Look for what business are next door, and avoid all night traffic like a 7-11 or 24 hour spots.
I am looking for a hotel with low visibility, low activity, no traffic at night.
Picture below of Hampton Topeka. Right off the interstate, in a business park, real quiet at night. That's the parking spot I want right by the entrance, extra wide. Checked in at 3, went out to dinner and that spot was open when we came back.
We picked a room in the front where I can see my car. That's how I roll.

Go on your trip & enjoy yourself, C8's are not Hellcats in the most stolen car hierarchy.

I am taking a trip in about two weeks from Fort Lauderdale to Philly And staying in South Carolina overnight halfway. I have done the following to deter theft:
-Hidden an apple AirTag deep in the car that no one will really find. I’d tell you where it was but I’d have to kill you… the speaker is disconnected in the AirTag, so no one can hack it, make it beep and find it. But it still works perfect Lol.
- subscribe to the safety and security package from OnStar… It tells you exactly when your car moves after you set up a perimeter fence. So if it moves after you get into your hotel room, you immediately can call the police, and OnStar will track and issue a kill signal to the engine, so it stops wherever it is. the good thing is you can subscribe to this month-to-month, so when you get home, you can cancel it. It’s 30 bucks a month. There are other benefits as well to the package.
Agree with above finding a well lit, busy hotel near the interstate - try and park as close to the building as possible or not around the backside.
I agree with the above that the C8 has pretty good theft deterrent. When I was going to get insurance from my agent, she ran the numbers and showed that the car did not go up at all from my BMW X2M, , mainly because the deterrent systems were noted.
not paranoid at all, I own the Apple AirTag already, and the OnStar just seemed like a good idea.
Actually was worried more about my new stance wheels, so I got the ultimate in wheel locks: advanced wheel locks… They are excellent. Nobody’s getting the wheels without their key.

Most/many go to places that don't have road systems that will support non 4X4 capable vehicles.
But they often have a lot of sand, swamps, and jungles.
C$34.5M in stolen vehicles found in port of Montreal, QC, in shipping containers....most were as mentioned, pickup trucks and SUVs.
