Wait until GMS and employee discounts are allowed on the C8 (rumors are very soon from a friend). Here in Detroit, the prices are going to plummet. There are just too many of these cars on the market.
I've been waiting for these days for four years. Getting to be a good time to buy.

2023 C8 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
Because the car is probably worth $12-15k below MSRP and the dealer needs to make some money on the sale.
I recently saw where a guy entered the VIN a brand new $95k 2024 Ford F150 Lightning into Carvana and received a $39k offer. That vehicle was routinely selling for over MSRP 18 months ago. The market is rapidly shifting.

It's borderline criminal how the supply is so lopsided right now. I'm not even sure I've moved up 20 spots on the ER wait list at Stingray--since I joined it in December. I was really hoping that the 2024 would attenuate initial demand and I'd be able to get an order placed by the end of the year. It will be the end of the year, but probably 2025 and likely 2026 by the time that happens.
I am asking around, but this really comes back to GM completely flubbing the widebody production. The new and used SRmarket would not be negatively impacted if GM stopped making SR's for 3-4 months.

My money is GM's to lose. So far, they are signaling that they don't care about profit.

I used to time orders to come in March as they would regularly offer rebates especially on 4 wheel drive models. With that and the employee discount I was always in a new vehicle for no more than 1 or 2 grand a year.

This is all it would take to get me over the fence and I'm sure for others also. Is your friend connected?

When I bought my C6 in 2007, I am pretty sure it was around 4-5k off (GMS at the time) which, for that car, was a decent deal.
The used market in Detroit for C8 its still off its rocker. I attribute that to people stuck in ADM-based loans. Also, many people had their car PPF'd in 2020-2022 and I refuse to pay for that. Same with window tinting, ceramic coating, exhaust systems, carbon skirts, etc. You loose on all of that in my book and if I have to remove it, I will ask for even more off. For that reason, I do not even engage with current used sellers...I just don't want the headache.
When this is all said and done, just like my C6, the Corvette just becomes another used car. Things like 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT just drift away as options on a used car. People gravitate to popular colors over options as the price spread for different trim levels just narrows. When I sold my C6 2LT after 12 years, it was over a 50% less than original sticker in the mid 20's. A 1LT or 3LT would have been very similar priced. There are exceptions obviously, but for 90% of the Corvettes out there, most of them end up as tired used cars.

Here is what I see GM doing. The C8 is the first Corvette to be sold global I could see GM giving more allocations for Stingrays to Canada, Europe, Japan, Australia, where there is still a demand for the car

I counted 24 in stock. That's a bunch. All discounted. Nice to see.

Still doesn’t stop the people on the “for sale” section of this forum from asking MSRP for their used cars😂🤦♂️

Local dealer giving away Carnival Cruise vacation with any C8 purchase. Can't even given them away.
