Default Rain? What rain?

About a million years ago, my dad told his 8 year old son that, if it wasn't raining too hard, you could stay dry in the C4 if you drove fast enough.

Happy to report that the C8 continues the tradition! (and I never even topped 80)

I had similar thing with my C4 with my son. We rolled up into a rainstorm with top out. I told my son we can stop and put top in or go for it. Being a kid he smiled and told me to keep rolling. Going around 60mph we barely got a drop!

It works in the c8 as well, until you turn the windshield wipers on. Then it goes right on your lap. Ask me how I know.

My 74 MGB years ago worked the same! The clunky top took several minutes to put back up so if you got caught in a bad rainstorm, you were done

What will happen is there is a dirty mist that gets in car, The back of the seats will get really dirty as well as anywhere where the air will settle.

get to an overpass… put up the top.

Several minutes?... My Sprite top doesn't fold down (it's a Roadster, not a Convertible). I would have to be carrying the "sticks" (the top frame) in the trunk along with the top. It takes about 1/2 hour to get everything installed and buttoned up. That's if I even had the top and frame with me when I left the house. .. .. And why I have a Miata PHRT (as well as the Sprite).

That's nothing. The trick is to drive at precisely the correct speed--without using your wipers--so that the water will continue to pool and pool on your windshield. It's harder than it sounds, because the larger the water pools, the faster you have to go to keep gravity from pulling it down or wind from pushing it up.

Reminds me of a BMW ad that I saw years ago.

That's wild...I had no idea! Definitely a good idea to have the Mazda especially in dodgy weather!

Over the years I’ve been caught out in an unexpected rain storm - amazing how fast a targa top can be put back on the car.
