Default Tight squeeze

My driveway is an alley that gets narrow. 83 inches. The C8 is 76.1 inches with the mirrors folded. Really makes me wish the C8 had a surround camera. Any suggestions, like maybe spray painting some reference points or guidelines on the pavement? I haven't tried it yet in my C8, it's at a storage place. But I'd like to save the money and park it at home. edit - I do have front camera, but it's usefulness is limited.

Do you have front cameras? (2LT) If so I think they would help immensely.

Yes, it does help, but a view of the sides of the car would really help a lot more.

Cameras or not, that is a tight squeeze.

I too have a narrow driveway.. It's also rather steep. I back in. I've painted a line so I can use the back up camera to off center the car slightly so that I can open the door to the detent and not hit the wall.with the open door. I also put on perpendicular so that I know how far to back up using. Using the reverse camera I center the car on the line and back until one of the reference lines hits the perpendicular mark. Then I'm perfect under the carport (that I had built after I bought the C8.

I tried some reflective sidewalk tape too, but it's too wet around here for that to stick to my rough old concrete.for very long.

I would mix up some epoxy and apply it between the driveway and the back of the tape (wait for a dry day to apply). That tape will be stuck down for life...

Unframed,
My garage floor is white/gray. I pull in on a slight angle.
I put a line using black electrical tape on the floor. I use the front camera to guide it and where to stop.
You could get some white or yellow tape to try the guide. If it works, paint a white or yellow fluorescent line.
I can't imagine driving thru 83" space.

I'd suggest the old-fashioned way - roll down your driver's side window and check for clearance on your side. However, with that little clearance, do you have enough room to get out once parked?

The front & rear cameras do have tire alignment lines; learn the placement of those and rely on them.

I spray painted a line down my garage with a bullseye at the end to help with the parking. I put a foam bumper on the wall for the door point to hit. The other side of the car has my 1970 vette.

if you don’t have the front camera… acquire a great deal of luck soon.

If you're having to fold the mirrors the side cameras would be no help as the cameras are in the mirrors.

If it's that hard going forward, how are you going to back out? Why risk it? Keep the storage place that you are using now.

install some 4x4's or 4x6's on the driveway surface as a tire bumper. You should hit the bumper before the car hits the wall.

What is the distance that you have to go through the tight squeeze area? Is it 10 feet, or 100 feet, or somewhere in-between ? If it's only a very short distance, say 10 or 15 feet, perhaps you can have a friend, or spouse help you the first time, and put your driver side window down and use just the driver side as the control side, knowing what is left over for the passenger side.

As for parking in my garage, I've used Laser pointers from the ceiling for 25 years. They put a pin point red dot on my dashboard for each of our cars. Just park the car exactly where you want it, and adjust the tip of the Laser pointer to an easy to remember spot on your dash. This won't help you get TO your garage, but once there, it's very handy, and inexpensive.

Thank you for all of the responses and recommendations. The narrow section's 83 inches wide and 10 feet long. My daily driver is 74 inches and has a ton of cameras. I can navigate the narrow part with ease. But that extra couple of inches of width of the vette, plus being lower to the ground, plus no surround view has me sketched out. If I can get some reference lines set up then maybe it'll work.

You can get multiple "laser pointers" from Amazon. Possibly set them to adjust for width as well as depth,

You might try installing the Sandyeggo Designs convex mirror. at least on the drivers side. The panoramic mirror on the drivers side will let you see the whole of the car on that side, and the wall adjacent to it, from the mirror back. On the passenger side the mirror is already convex and might afford you enough vision to see what you have to but if not, another Sandyeggo mirror will increase your field of view. I have found these mirrors of great help when backing out of my own tight squeeze driveway.
