BP or Marathon

Not 100% sure if this is still the case, but the 3.5 gallons that the Assembly Plant in Bowling Green puts in each car was BP.

I have been the industry for 35 years all gasoline is produced the same it’s the Top tier additive that makes the fuel better for your car, Texaco, Shell, Chevron, Sinclair, Sunoco any fuel that has a true top tier rating is great, I will never put BP or Costco fuel in my Corvette ever it’s not top tier.

Thanx ALL for the heads up about BP. They used to be quality (I thought) and now with all you input I know better.
Love the forum for the input and knowledge that's available and freely shared.

I will drive out of my way for a Chevron with Techron. Shell is a backup for me if I am simply unable to find a Chevron.

I live near the Cherry Point refinery in Blaine WA and spoke to one of the tanker drivers, he says all the gasoline for all the brands is exactly the same, the point of difference is on the final part of the tanker load each brand has their own proprietary additive blend injected. Advice he gave me is to worry less about the brand and make sure to fuel from a high volume station.

Someone once told me that here in Commiefornia that all the gas stations have to use the Arco/BP formula because it's more Ethanol based which burns "cleaner", which is why it makes it more expensive then other states besides all the taxes that are tacked on at the pump, haven't really looked into this to see if this is true or not.

Here is something I learned years ago working near a gasoline terminal near Chicago O'Hara. This was confirmed by someone in the business. Many various tankers of many brands filled at the same terminal, with the differences being the additives, the gasoline was the same, from same tanks. The only difference was the bargain brands got fuel from the tanks as the levels were low.

Another note. Gas stations are regional, so you may not find your favorite in every state. Case in point....we had a guy in our club some years ago who refused to use anything but Mobil. The problem was in MO there were barely any, if no Mobil stations. The dumb *** passed on many opportunities to fill and finally bought some Shell as he was almost out. I told him if he ran out, ai would not be waiting with him to be towed or fueled.
I have never had a problem in any of my Vettes with any name brand gas.

Doing more research I find pricing craziness. The difference between Regular Unleaded and Premium is $1.00 or more on the East Coast/ Mid West but only 20¢ on the West Coast. Prices are about the same here for Premium as on the East Coast but much cheaper there for Reg Unl. ...
