Default C8 Insurance

All

Dont know if this is the right place but I’ll ask it anyways. I picked up my new 2024 C8 Redmist Stingray last month. I have been a State Farm customer for 20 Years so I called my agent and told him to add my new addition. So he did, at $1056.00 every six months. Talk about sticker shock but I paid it. Last week i was watching a you tube video on C8’s and came across NCM Insurance company. I looked them up and requested a quote. Received an email rom them yesterday stating that the anual premium was $1026.00. A little less than 1/2. I called my State Farm agent, he basically tells me the price is the price. He plugs the car info into the computer and it spits out what the rate is. That’s what I get for buy 100K car.

So after talking to NCM Insurance I told them that I would have to research them further. They said to raise the question here, so thats what I am doing. Who here uses them? What are your experiences? Has anyone maid a claim wit them and how are they to work with.

I have not made a claim with State Farm or ay other insurance company before and I really don’t know what is good or bad just one of the those bill you pay when it comes, but was really taken back at there position “the price is what it is” I have not had a ticket in 20 years and I have excellent credit. I thought I would have been valued more by SF, but I guess not.

Thanks for the help

Angelo

I currently just purchased a 2024 zo6. My insurance quote was thru auto owners and its like $2,400.00 for a year. I thought that was kinda high but looked around and seems like everyone is in that 2000-2400 per year range.

I've been with NCM for years and they are great IF you understand what you are getting. It is collector car insurance (NCM, Grundy, Hagerty), and the car can't be used as a daily driver, it is for pleasure use only. You can for instance stop at a store to pick up some milk while out for a drive on a nice day. You can't however drive directly to the grocery store on a rainy day, buy your weekly $300 in groceries and drive straight home (that would be a "daily driver" use). For many people it's great coverage. I'm switching my Z06 back to my normal Farmer's policy as the Z06 is ridiculously priced even on NCM (actually less on Farmer's with normal coverage), and because I enjoy driving it so much that I want to use it more.

If NCM had quoted me half what I am paying State Farm for my Z06 I might have actually considered buying the policy. For me, State Farm with zero use restrictions was cheaper than NCM with less coverage. Geico offered a bit less than SF but I have had bad dealings with them in the past. Sticking with SF where I have been for 30 yrs and a few big claims.

FYI, OP don't start comparing the rates that people will inevitably post. Everyone is different based on a lot of variables including location (even location within a city matters), driving history, married, home ownership, etc.

A lot depends on where you live, how many miles to do, and how much you bundle. In my case, besides the 23 C8 Z51, I've got a '24 Infiniti, '22 Ram 2500, a travel trailer, a snowmobile trailer, a snowmobile, home owners, umbrella liability, and valuable personal property all through USAA. the Corvette is $566 per six months. I have it down as 4000 miles per year. Of course I also get an annual subscriber rebate that's usually around $300 and a "senior member rebate" for having been with them for more than 40 years and the rebate is usually about $1100 per year.

The point being that you have to look at your overall insurance picture. Do you have more than one I surance company? If so you might bet some overall savings by consolidating with one company. Individual coverages. May be more but look at the total price for insurance. Also review all the discounts you may be eligible.e for. Increase your deductible? Anti theft device discount? Etc, etc. I don't use an agent, but is yours being lazy? Review line by line what discounts the company has and if you qualify. If he didn't ask you a ,ot of questions when he did the quote, then he's being lazy. Also, FYI USAA gave me a 10% discount for taking a safe driving course, even though they already had me down as a "premier driver" due to not having a ticket or accident for years. Didn't have to set foot in a classroom. I just had to do a class that was approved by my state and it was onlinread the materiel, take a test. Get the discount. My wife hasn't done it yet, and her Infiniti QX55 with her as the primary driver costs $60 more than the Corvette.

I've had NCM for over a year now and recently renewed policy this past Dec...My current policy rate ($780/yr) remained pretty much the same and their policy guidelines suit my needs perfectly as my C8 is only used for recreation and pleasure trips.

I did ask for same use with both Farmers and Travelers and the rates they quoted were nearly double that of NCM....

I also have had State Farm for a long time and I pay about $1200 year for my Stingray. Since I have a DD, they offer a "part time driver", or something like that, at a reduced rate. You get up to 7500 miles a year, whereas the NCM insurance is only 6000.

I pay $1060 for a year with Geico. I have a bunch of policies with them (3 cars, 2 motorcycles, ATV and homeowners)
and every additional policy I get with them, the existing policies premiums go down. Bundling is real. $1060 is for my

I've been with NCM for many years. $1000 a year total for my C-1, C-2 and C-8. Highest liability available and zero deductible.

So a little more info on my situation. I live in Cincinnati, OH. I have 7 vehicles, my 5th wheel and my house insured with SF right now. 2017 RAM CC CTD Dually, 2024 Chevy Blazer, 2015 Equinox, 1995 Tahoe, 1969 Z/28, 1972 Chevelle, 2024 Stingray, 2017 Jayco 355 MBQS and my house. I didn’t think that the Stingray would have been that much more but it was.

So I elected the exact same coverages I have with SF on my NCM application. To my surprise it came in just under half of what SF is. I meet all of the requirements of NCM. Just don't know anything about them. Can anyone give me a 1st hand experience?

Thanks

Angelo

about 1500 with allstate in fort lauderdale, a county known for theft and accidents. Enrolling in drivewise where they track your car Saves me another 200 bucks a month. I don’t mind them following me on my phone, I drive normally. You also can turn it off at any time for any drive you’re about to make. i’m also bundled with my homeowners and a few Scooter policies.

Okay, this pleasure driving only (NCM) coverage has me wondering. So if you drive to the gas station for gas, is that pleasure or daily driving? If you drive to that same gas station and only buy a quart of oil, is that pleasure or daily driving? So do they track you and then subjectively decide what type of driving was taking place when any claim situation occurs? Don’t know how well I’d sleep when knowing all the technical possibilities involved, regardless cheaper price. My State Farm is $483 for six months…seems fair enough to me, especially when I can drive anywhere at anytime.

I strongly suggest to the OP, go to an independent insurance agent that represents many insurance companies and have them shop rates for you.
I was with Allstate for years and my premiums were constantly going up and I had a very good driving record. My independent agent saved me many hundreds annually over what I was paying Allstate.

You're overthinking it, they don't track you, and they'll only ask when you have a claim. If you're out driving and something happens, they'll just want to know where you were going/what you were doing. Going to the gas station is never going to be questioned as it's a car, and it needs gas.

NCM has mileage restriction. My Grundy Collector car policy has no mileage restrictions, no deductible, oem parts use only and an agreed value almost $20k higher than what NCM would insure for.

I actually just increased my agreed value on my policy due to the addition of forged wheels & interior carbon fiber pieces. Sent in a request with pics of the parts & invoices showing how much I paid. Received approval on the new value in 2 days.
