How bad is this scratch?
Got out of my car and noticed this scratch. Is this fixable or will I need to have the panel sprayed? It’s a good 3 - 4 inches in length.

Is it vandalism?
If it is an intentional pointed metal scrape (keyed) or from an adjacent parking lot car, etc., your comp insurance should cover it zero deductible. Pretty simple fix for any competent body shop.

Funny you say that @C7Me . My wife said the same thing. She stares at it for a few seconds and said I think you should sell it 😂

As others have said, Meguiar's ScratchX is the ticket. It's my go-to and gets used quite frequently.

I think you are going to need to start by sanding, first 1000 then 2000, then 3000 followed by buffing various grits until you get to polishing grit. If you are uncomfortable about doing that procedure I would go to a detailer. You could also check with your dealership's get ready department or the used car department to get the name of the repair person they use to fix defects on the used cars. I have used these guys in the past an they are generally very skilled in repairing paint defects.

Any idea on what the difference is between Scratch X and Scratch X 2.0? Looks like maybe 2.0 is more agressive, but I can't even find it on the Meguiar's website - wondering if it was too aggressive for people that weren't careful and they stopped selling it...?

It wasn’t intentional. Definitely a rock or piece of hard clay. There was a lot of dust at the point of impact. It’s really low on the panel. Had the rocker been full length I don’t think this happens.

You might be surprised. I had a kid run into my c5 with his handlebars and it looked awful. The kids dad offered to fix it at a body shop. I didn’t even attempt to rub it out it looked so bad. Lo and behold the body shop rubbed it right out by hand in about 30 seconds. I was completely shocked. Good luck and hope yours is just as simple.

Hire a professional and highly rated detailer to get it to look the best it can. Then just live with the smaller scratch it should turn out to look like.
