Default Faraday Box actually works!!!

Due to some recent "events", I decided I wanted to look into using a faraday pouch or box for all my push button vehicle key fobs.

Well, the box came today and so I put all my key fobs into it, went up to the cars with the box closed, and the car had no idea I was there with the key in hand. The second the lid was cracked open, the car saw the key and I was able to enter the car. This was same behaviour on a few different makes.

Went from skeptic to believer in an instant.....

So... which one? Is it shaped like the puzzle box from Hellraiser?

I am sure I might be missing something, as I am wondering why do I want a box to put my key in so my car won't know it is there? Not being sarcastic. Please enlighten me.

I'm using these instead of the box method..... a carbon fiber RFID individual key fob holder. Liked it so well, I bought another pair for the other car... $9.99 for 2 of them. Very nice quality.

Also handy, and safe for use in public parking lots, hotels, restaurants or anywhere else you may park.

Thieves are now using jamming devices so that when you lock your car with the fob, it doesn't lock.

Default Doors do not open if key fob is in the bag

If the key fob is in the pouch bag and closed when I push the opening button in the door handle, the door do not open.
Similarly when I am in the car, the car does only start when the bag is open and the key is out.

The faraday box/pouch can help prevent this from happening:

So can not storing your keys by an outside wall. Also, the fob goes to sleep after about 15 minutes. Once the fob is asleep the faraday box doesn't help (but it doesn't hurt either).

I fear I don't live long enough to be daily worried about my key fob.

That could happen, it's not magic. We just have a small sheet metal box. Basically a cookie tin we keep our key fobs in.
Hope it works.

Can you expound on this? What causes it to go to sleep and what causes it to wake up?
