I can see using the Fob Pouch but don’t understand the purpose of the Faraday Box at all. My friend had his Mercedes stolen by someone cloning his key fob. He spent an entire day + dealing with it. He was an older guy and was wondering if he remembered where he parked. The police found his car at a Mall several miles away.
My car sits in the garage all the time and so the "relay" attack is more likely to happen the the "button push" from a "replay" hack.

I'm using these instead of the box method..... a carbon fiber RFID individual key fob holder. Liked it so well, I bought another pair for the other car... $9.99 for 2 of them. Very nice quality.
Also handy, and safe for use in public parking lots, hotels, restaurants or anywhere else you may park.

That is easy. I do not daily drive my car, I do not drive it to the mall, dinner, lunch, or anywhere else where I am parking it and someone will grab the current code when I hit unlock. I start it, in my garage, go drive it, and come back to the garage.

Scared to take your car out to eat and/or park it out in public? Wow, that's wild. I'd hate to live my life being that paranoid about things. At the end of the day it's just a car and is replaceable. You should be able to fully enjoy it or there's no purpose in having it.
Yes, I have extreme OCD and I am good with it.

I use it at home. There are numerous stories (maybe some are true) of thieves using tech to scan the FOB if it is left near an outside door and using the hacked signal to steal cars. By putting the FOB in a faraday box it protects it from this type of car theft.

I can see where either box or pouch can be a handy anti-theft device. Done use them, no.

I don't know if it reduces my risk any, but I always lock the car by pushing the button on the door before I close the door and walk away. I don't use the fob to lock the car.

If I put one of these in my pocket will it make me sterile? Sounds cheaper and easier than snip snapping.

all these "i've got insurance" and "meh... you can always just get another one" folks clearly don't keep vehicles long enough to build sentimental value, significantly personalize them, or own extremely-hard-to-find models or configurations.

But think of it this way. A curious thief, or a desperate one will have the thought process of if you have a nice car, especially if he/she knows you're an older gentleman, possibly retired etc, now they start to wonder hmmm, "what's in the house? I'm sure this nice corvette owner i just stole his car from has some rolex's in the house and all these things, let me have a plan for that too."

I bought a Go Dark Key Fob Faraday Cage. When it comes to simple stupid at a reasonable cost, I'm all in.

Not saying this type of theft will happen , just that it does happen. It happened to my son and he lost a beautiful blue C7. Not to mention the $3K the Insurance cheated him out of.

People that steal cars should be quickly hanged (after due process of course). Same as a horse thief. Need to bring back consequences for criminals.

Sorry car theft has always been a risk in my life, more so years ago. My Vette is garage kept, and I dont drive it in high risk areas. In my Vette life of 25 years I have never known one person to have theirs stolen. Yes, I pay for insurance which factors theft risk. Do I want to walk around with my fob in a pouch, bag, etc? No. I am thinking of clear plastic covers for my seats though. Lol. Remember the story Chicken Little?

The fobs have a built-in-in accelerometer and timer. After no motion for about 15 minutes they go to sleep and need to be moved to be woken up. There is a statement in the owner's manual about this.
If someone wanted to test this they could place the fob by the locked door and come back in about half an hour to see if they can open the door. The range isn't that far either, I think it is something like 10 feet. Place the fob 10 feet away and see if you can still open the door.
At Spring Mountain they keep the fobs in the cupholders and they tell you to shake the fob to wake it up when you return to your car if it won't start. I had to do it.
