Two Saturdays ago, the car (22 non-Z51 Coupe) flashed the "idle creep disabled" message and a MIL, but otherwise drove fine. Last Thursday, it lost the even-numbered gears for about a minute, then was fine. I had an oil change scheduled for this past Friday AM, so I gave them a heads up to diagnose it. The service advisor said that it was either the valve body or DCT, and arranged a rental from Hertz (more on that in a second), saying I should hear something from them early this week.
I hadn't heard anything from them, so called late Tuesday to find out that it needs a valve body, and that they'd give me an ETA on the part & repair later that day. He asked about the rental, and I told them that it was a little ridiculous that I paid GM for a Corvette, and that they rented me a dirty Malibu with worn tires and possibly the worst-aligned chassis in Atlanta. He agreed that it wasn't right, and would work on getting an upgrade.
I didn't hear back on Tuesday or yesterday, so I called today. The valve body is on backorder, and they don't know when the car can be fixed. The SA and his manager are supposedly working on a rental upgrade authorization from GM.
I'm annoyed, and part of me is really regretting selling my BMW for the C8. The Corvette is a fantastic car, but the dealer support feels like it doesn't live up to how good the car is.
TLDR: My car has the same transmission problems as many others, and GM doesn't know when they can fix it. It sucks.

With this many DCT problems and no parts available this has class action written all over it?
All these going BOOM and no recalls? A few TSB's which are useless without parts!
Yet they keep on producing new cars with parts current owners need to get back on the road?

When there are multiple problems with Japanese drivelines and it’s evident on a model, they will honor a longer warranty on driveline to make sure you don’t get screwed……..Chevy says…..get an extended warranty.

It's been dealer serviced since new; I will ask for a service history next time I go up there to get disappointing news, haha.

>inb4 someone says "hurrr only a small negligble percentage of C8s have DCT issues, mine is issue free!"
Yeah (1) your C8 is issue free so far
and (2) If we should keep in mind all the people who bought one and didn't complain here on corvetteforum, why should we also not keep in mind the others who did have issues but either mentioned it on some other forum or social media, or just never mentioned it to the internet at all?

One of the questions is whether or not a hydraulic system flush was performed when the DCT filter was changed. The DCT filter service procedure calls for it but a lot of dealers either aren't aware of it or don't believe it is necessary. The problem is there isn't a way to verify it was done unless it is specifically stated on the service invoice since it is just another step in the service procedure. If it isn't on your invoice you could ask and see what they say.

That's because the Japanese still value honor, for now anyways until the mind-virus affects them too.

It is an absolute inescapable fact that all DCT in all Corvettes will suffer catastrophic transmission failure at some point!

Malfunctions will always occur but GM should step up with their efforts to remedy them as quickly as possible. Owners should have priority when it comes to parts availability rather than stacking another C8 on a megadealer's lot. C'mon GM.

They really need to apply more resources to achieving a lower failure rate on the DCT.. Yes I know on forums you typically only hear about the problems, but boy this has been talked about all over the web.....a lot.

I will for sure be reaching out to GM to make sure that the transmission/powertrain warranty is extended.

GM is pumping out Corvettes at a furious pace. That's where your parts are going - into new car builds. The goal of GM is to sell you the car. And yes, you have a warranty, but what is it worth when under the warranty, they cannot fix the car?
In the eyes of GM, the only thing wrong here is the transmission did not last long enough to make it out of warranty before the it failed.

Someone needs to start a Nation Wide campaign with Corvette owners that have had or having DCT failures and get a class action suit with 2 main questions.
First question ..... why hasn't problem been fixed? It has been going on since 2020
Second question ..... why are parts NOT AVAILABLE while new car production continues?

Mine went out around the same mileage with similar symptoms. The changed the valve body and gave me a inadequate rental car as well. I was out of car for 1 1/2 months.
Luckily California has lemon laws that are very beneficial for the consumer. If you go this path, make sure to get a good lawyer. Makes all the difference.
