How to go fast in a non Z51 C8?
The main factor I've heard in the Z51 vs Non Z51 converaarion is whether a person plans to track their car or not. The other is resale value.
My question: How do Non Z51 folks drive fast? You can only go about 80mph on most highways without getting a ticket. How do you tap into the C8s power in a non track environment?

While blasting down the highway at triple digit speeds is not recommended if you want to avoid a ticket and a hefty fine, you can still explore the performance capabilities of the C8 during a spirited drive through some nice twisty back roads.

It's all about how fast you get to 80. Therein lies the problem.

A lot of the ‘why buy a Z51’ conversation is that people view the C8 a budget exotic. So given that they are giving you such a bargain on a near exotic, why not get just a little closer with the Z-51 package? The c8 is overkill for the street, the z51 C8 is just a tiny bit more overkill for the street.
Luckily you don’t have to buy the z51C8 if you just want the base level of overkill for the street, others figure it’s cheap enough, get me a bit more overkill.

If you want to go fast, the street is hardly the place to do it... no matter what one drives. However, having the potential is enough for many. us. There are other venues if one has something to prove.

Fast is relative. There are places you can attack the road at speeds that make it fun, without going so fast you create a hazard to everyone else. And short bursts of acceleration can be entertaining, without having to reach supra-legal speeds. Driving a twisty road quickly can be fun without being dangerous.
And you can do things like the lead / follow laps at the NCM racetrack. Unless you're an expert driver, you can have plenty of fun without putting the kind of loads on your car that real racetrack use will.

Any vehicle can be driven fast. The SR has 495 hp, which is relatively not that much. Three of my four vehicles have between 500 - 680 hp, and somehow neither me nor my wife have any speeding tickets & don't drive at high speeds on public roadways. Not that difficult to follow traffic laws.

Because we can and we want to. Not everyone always obeys the speed limits and some of us actually do events where we can legally go faster than 80 MPH.
I do track events and other sanctioned speed events. I had over 900 miles at or above 150 MPH in my C6Z, all legal. So far in my C8Z I only have about 85 miles at 150 or above, again all legally. I have, on occasion, been known to go over 80 MPH on the street, but less than 150.

It isn't how fast you go, it's how you go fast.

……..and the C8 can handle those twisty back roads much faster than any prior Corvette generation.

Nothing like being able to chase down a ricerocket on some twisty roads. Key is to not drive past your talent. The Z51 gives you a little more if that is what you are looking for.

In California the legal speed limit is 55 MPH when the speed limit isn't posted. There a lot of winding mountain roads where you can have a lot of fun at 55 MPH. The challenge is to find roads without a lot of people on them.

Maryland has lots of cool windy roads on hills etc. The problem for me is that the curves are typically blind - you can't see very far ahead, around the curve, either because of trees, or embankments. So taking a corner fast means the possibility of encountering a stopped car, animal, or other obstacle in the road. This puts a damper on how fast I am willing to push through the curves. It is difficult to find roads that have nice curves but do not have limited sight distance. Oh...first world problems! But, I do agree, I do not need to go that fast to have fun driving my car.

Being logical in picking a automobile one would not need anything close to a Vette. Its the want. The dream. The look. From there you do as you see fit to do.

The C8 can go very fast, with or without the Z51 option. You definitely don't want to try that in an urban area for your safety and others. Find some isolated and twisty country roads near you to test your abilities on handling your C8 without endangering anyone else.
