What have you learned since owning your C8?
#41
Because the stock brakes and shocks are not great on track. AP kit is about 12k, most of the decent double or triple adjustable are 6-10k. Some of us enjoy those upgrades on track. Everything C8 costs a lot for quality upgrades.
Dont get me wrong, there are some excellent drivers, Mark Petronis for example that can get a ton out of the stock setup, but some of these upgrades make the car way easier to drive fast consistently.

Yeah, I plan on using my ER as a DD. So I won't be spending a cotton picking cent on that stuff.

Stingray 1LT, no option coupe, 5,500 miles in 8 months.
1) Learned to quickly identify parking spots where I can open the drivers door wide enough to comfortably get in and out.
2) Learned the proper way to set my outside mirrors and never, ever change lanes without looking twice.
3) Learned to embrace the technology available in the infotainment and dash modules.
4) Learned that the computer controlled DCT is much smarter than I am when choosing what gear to be in and when.
5) Learned to be an efficient minimalist when packing for a road trip.
Most importantly learned that Chevrolet/GM improved the Corvette in just about everyway imaginable in the areas important to me with the C8 platform. Acceleration, handling, comfort and style.

I found the Sandy Eggo mirror just for the Driver side took any doubt away about blind spots. They have versions for the 1LT, and 2LT, 3LT where the warning indicator shows through.
I also like the steering wheel, It makes perfect sense to me and is perfect for viewing the dashboard.

2022 C8 of the Year Finalist - Modified
Walter, I've seen you post this a couple of times. If you bought your C8 new then the dealer owes you another key fob. If you bought it used you are probably out of luck unless you can track down the previous owner and he still has the second fob. If you need or want another key fob you can buy them from the Chevy dealer and have them programmed for your car. I've heard that you might want to have both reprogrammed so they match (whatever that means).

Cellular phone cradle charger not comfortable to get to while already in driver's seat. I liked my M Competition, it's inside the center console. Secure, safe and easy to access if needed. Not a big deal. First World problems.

Wireless CP/AA was added in 2021. And yes the wireless charger is basically worthless, as it is on almost every other car. I use wireless AA for around town and just leave my phone in my pocket. For trips, I'll plug it in so it charges by cable and connects to AA over the cable (saving battery over wireless connection).

I just got a 2020 and won't be subscribing to On* or XM so I have limited apps. My phone is a iPhone 6S so no wireless charging. I do have XM in my daily driver, a NV200???, so I can do XM through my phone. I just toss the phone in the side pocket once I have XM running. I will put my phone in the center console for charging on long trips as I did in my C6. I would like the My Chevy remote unlock but from what I read you need On*.

If you want wireless AA or CP on a 2020, there are adaptors that will do it (I have the Motorola MA1 in my Jeep and it works great, but is for AA). Honestly, I wouldn't let the lack of wireless AA/CP dissuade me from a 2020 if I were buying used.

From what I've seen on YouTube, most of the people who review the C8 don't own one, but instead borrow one to drive for the first time. After doing their reviews, they get in their Prius or Camrys, drive home and curl up in bed to warm dreams of owning a C8. That said, I DO NOT OWN, NOR HAVE I DRIVEN A C8. But I do have a TPW for next week, and I have no problem admitting that ( I assume ) my C8 will drive well beyond my capabilities. That, in my book, is exactly how I want it. Color me ....excited!

- Overall: that I love my car, but I'm missing a manual and want a lighter car.
- That if I had to do it over again, I'd get the same exact options but as a convertible.
- That after some teething issues, that this car has exceeded my expectations.
- That GM did a REALLY good job with this car and that, as an American, I'm proud of what they accomplished (especially since I used to be a German car snob...)
