Default idle creep temporarily disabled, service transmission

I'm driving my 23 C8 Z51 and a week ago a couple blocks from my house I received the idle creep temporarily disabled. Then my car starts only using gears 2 and 4 and says service transmission. I decide to make a U turn which requires a 3 point turn in to the gas station so I could get it towed. That's when I find reverse is not working and now I'm stuck in the middle of the road and cars are coming.

To my surprise another C8 owner drives by and pulls over to help. I put the car in neutral and he pushes it back for me so I could complete the turn. I manage to drive a few blocks to my house but the car was now hard breaking or something every few minutes.

The dealer offered to tow the car for me but said it would have to be in a few days. So I just had the car towed myself that same day. They are saying the problem is a valve body.

I have a feeling from reading various posts it will not fix the problem. So we will see.🙏 The car with the wing is mine and his is the convertible, he's the one standing in the street.

*Update* Thurday Jan 25th they told me they completed the work on the transmission. So it took about a week. I had to get a paint correction because the paint was peeling around headlight. They completed that on Jan 31st. The whole process was smooth and I got updates from the dealership every couple of days.

Before the trans failed the down shifts had a slight rock when down shifting from gear 3 to 1 but it felt like it could be normal if driving aggressive with engine set to track. The Upshifts had some type of very light feedback when using the paddles with engine set to track. But felt normal. In tour or my mode every thing felt normal.

After the repairs the upshifts and down shifts are completely smooth. When I upshift when spirited driving in Zmode track setting I can't feel the upshifts. I actually think it felt more cool before but I'm happy that it's working how it's meant to work.

The paint looks perfect now.

I hate hearing this ****!!
shame on gm for this popular issue still freaking happening in 23!!!
This is their flagship car and 3 years into it still happening!!!
I guess I’ll have to keep my drivetrain warranty until I gotta get rid of the dam thing
there will be people saying way over played and how rare it is……wrong, this is pitiful.
Almost like they want you to extend your warranty like everybody is doing to make more money.
Now they want you to use a 2nd party.
With my acuras when there was a common issue on the drivetrain they automatically gave me a 10yr 100000 warranty on it!!!!!
This is what gm should be doing!!!!!!!!
What a freaking embarrassment….They need to extend warranty on driveline at NO charge period!!!!!

Sorry to hear that. Hey, do you know your build date (and miles)? Wondering if your DCT is one of the 'updated' ones (with new case, not requiring 2 extra quarts for the track), which apparently are having more valve body issues than before. I think the switch date was in July, but not sure which day. Hope GM takes good (and quick) care of you. Keep us posted. Best of luck.

Exactly, I'm kind of worried about keeping it when the warranty runs out and I do plan on purchasing the extended warranty. People should definitely be aware of this problem before they purchase the car. I'm also seeing the Z06 have the same issue. It was embarrassing being stuck in the middle of the road waving at people for them to drive by me.

I’ve have someone’s repaired DCT in mine. Mine will be in someone’s else’s. What is going to occur when there is 100,000 miles on these?

Mine was built October 4th 2022 but it's a 2023 model. It has 12k miles. I don't think it's the new one.

It is sad that a problem with the DCT is still happening. OP - best of luck with the repair and I hope that major surgery to your car is not necessary.

I have zero tolerance to a known issue being ignored and not addressed 5 years in. If my 2024 does that it’s gone. No excuse on low mileage $80k car.

I bought my 2020 second hand. It had the tranny re-flashed twice and then a valvebody at 12000miles. I bought it at 15000 and have put 3000 miles on it with no issues.

They should consider something or they could possibly face a large class action in the future. I can't help but think our used values are going to tank, the minute these cars start coming out of their warranty.

I know it’s unlikely, but I had all of these same errors and issues and it was because my battery was dead/low volts. Mine happened first time I started it in the morning though, not middle of a trip

The settlement should be, free extended warranty to 10/100 for the DCT for everyone...

There is no rhyme or reason to it. Cars with 45 miles do it and some with 30000 don't. Does not seem to be related to how service is performed or how hard or easy the car is driven.

My first oil change was around 7300 miles and they also changed the trans filter, the dct and air filter.
