[QUOTE= My Jeep has screen-controls for several basic climate functions (heated seats, syncing the driver/passenger, location of airflow, etc)...I've hated it since I bought the thing.[/QUOTE]
I agree with that comment. Our 2023 Jeep Graand Cherokee has the WORSE designed heater defrost control ever designed.
The lower heating control slants INWARD (Red arrow) and you can't see the buttons unless you lean back and down to see what button to push.
Same with the switch circled to control the traction mode.
The screen shows too many icons and you take your eyes off the road to decide what icon to select then there are other choices once you get there.

Plant is shutting down tours...
Yeah definitely for secrecy about an interior change that 90% of the folks on the tour wouldn't notice.
Yup, thats gotta be it.
Wouldn't have anything to do with dual turbos being installed on 5.5 liter engines on cars with ZR1 badges, or electric motors being placed in the front of these same dual turbo'd ZR1 vehicles with ZORA badges attached.
Wouldn't have anything to do with a mid cycle body/ lighting refresh or possible front widebody adjustment.
Yup, definitely a minor interior change.

I would love an interior refresh--and not because of the button wall. If they're only doing the console, then ok. But it would be compelling to tweak seat design, streamline audio, eliminate borderline useless things (charging port), add a legitimate low-end speaker in place of the waterfall, etc. Drive mode and transmission controls could easily be relocated to the dash (eg. on top, between the instrument cluster and the door--above the vent). That freed-up space could easily be used to make a bleachers-style waterfall of buttons that could be designed to be less visually arresting and still provide tactile buttons for commonly used features. Expand stealth trim so it includes ALL of the remaining interior panels. Offer color-matching interior trim as a standalone option, rather than locking it behind door #3.
They could also tweak the exterior. Offer smoked tail-lights like the C6 Camaro or at least Altazza-style like the C7. Maybe tweak the doors/fenders slightly so the intake edges don't stick out quite so far. Tweak some of the nitnoid HTC cabling issues. Offer HTC tonneau transparent-panel option. Separate mirror and spoiler CF trim options.
Eh, who am I kidding. I'll be happy if the only thing they do is reverse all of their OnStar fuckery.

No, I heard they are improving the production equipment so they can produce more wide body cars. They didn't want to have to deal with tours while doing this work. It would slow down the changeover.

Perhaps you are right and we will surely know at the Bash, but until then, I'll just wait for more info to appear.

Had my car in for an oil change and asked the service writer about C8 transmission replacements. He said he's replaced about 18 of them so far.

I have two minor complaints with the wall.
- The tiny light on some of the buttons that show it’s engaged can be very difficult to see in direct sunlight. I find myself having to cup my hands over the button to verify it is on, especially when the top is down
- Passengers often press one or more buttons with their hand or elbow getting in and out of the car. The fan and AC running full blast after a passenger gets in can be rather annoying.

Highly doubt they will do any interior changes on the C8. Doesn’t make sense, unless they are struggling to design the C9 and plan on extending the C8 run. Doubtful

I'm not very savvy about style, but I know what works ergonomically and what doesn't. C8 cockpit is very ez to use, and the wife can get at the controls she needs. Style is a matter of opinion, ergonomics is factual. Putting the hvac controls further away from the driver would be going backwards. Plain and simple.

Long overdue for a change.
