Dealership games
I've been shopping for a 2021-2022 C8 convertible Z51, 2LT. Found one at a local dealership. Been watching the price bounce up & down for about 7 weeks.
Just before Xmas the web site pictures were updated : The bright silver wheels replaced with bronze. Factory yellow calipers replaced with black. I inquired about the change and was told it was to "generate additional interest". They also jacked the price by over $6K, which has since come back down.
I inquired about returning the wheels & calipers back to the factory colors. I was told (today) the original wheels & calipers are still on the vehicle, but were powder coated in the new colors.
QUESTION : Is the dealership blowing smoke up my tailpipe ? WHY would they remove the wheels & calipers, powder-coat them, and reinstall them to "generate additional interest" ??
Personally, I think the bronze looks butt-ugly, but beauty is subjective.
Cheers!

If the dealer was truthful about their actions, they must be nuts... and, apparently it hasn't happened (garnering more interest since they still have the car). Seems the dealer is now out the cost of their changes no matter what they really did or not. As for wheels, I'd consider them only "delivery" items no matter the color and would change to quality, fully-forged aftermarket if I bought it. All the best!

So it looks like they did not upcharge for the Bronze wheels? If this is what you are looking for, I would negotiate down...like waaaaay down. It sounds like the dealer is struggling to sell the car.

Walk away.
Your best bet would be to find a one-owner C8 being sold by the original owner. There's plenty of those around and probably get a better deal.

Sounds like something a Hendrick dealer would do. They are always pulling stock wheels and adding crap stuff and jacking prices. Their dealer in Norfolk even has one with what looks like a turquoise wrap.

Could be the dealer made those changes in an effort to generate a faster sale, but sounds like it didn't work. If you want the car, negotiate the price down to cover a set of used wheels that can probably be found in the C8 Parts for Sale section (as takeoffs).

Paying top KBB private sale price to an owner is a lot less expensive than buying from a dealer.
Add the benefit of being able to see the car's environment, how it has been kept, and taken care of, can be very telling.

Some sales manager had a pipe dream that changing the color would make the car sell quick.
Like a lot of aftermarket changes, it only devalues the car.
Keep looking, Get what you want. Why would you want to buy a car with screwed up wheels.
Got pictures?

Yellow calipers are a $595 ($695 now) option. It makes little sense for the dealer to paint them black, which is the standard color ($0). I guess anything is possible, but it seems odd.

All of this speculation about what the dealer did or did not do to the car is interesting. Factually, they own the car and can do anything they want to do as long as they are not lying about it. Truthfully, whether they do or don't sell the car in the next year is highly unlikely to change their lifestyle one iota!
