Default Why Didn't They Make The C8 Hood Front Hinged Like The C1-C7?

Just a question that randomly came across my mind. I know that its a frunk but still, I thought that the front opening hood was a corvette staple!

If they made the c8 a front opening hood.. then you would have a harder time using it as a frunk.. so much easier to put that case of water this way..

This is a great question and never thought of it. Maybe someone can assist in why the frunk opens “normal.”

It’s my daily along with a C7 that hardly gets used.

Rear opening frunk would be very inconvenient.

Mine is a daily driver and the frunk gets used frequently. What would the benefit be to a front-hinged frunk lid?

That sounds awful from a useability standpoint. Why would you want to reach around the hood to put things in the frunk?

Because having something in your way is never better than having unobstructed access. What advantage would there be to having a front hinged frunk lid?

When I go to track events I have a nice Craftsman 3 drawer tool box that fits very nicely in the frunk, but I sure would not want to have to put this ~50# box in the frunk from the side. Yes, I take it out when I do the events, just have it in to/from the event.

OP, the C8 hood does open from the front, as least on every C8 I have seen. Do you have a special one that opens from the back likother Corvettes?

OP is mistaken. The C8 HTC is the true heir, because the engine cover opens in the same manner as previous generations (hinged at the outer edge, closes by the cabin). So if you want to take the ****, go tell the coupe owners they are the ones not keeping up tradition. Because the HTC has the same kind of engine compartment opening as tradition dictated.

*mic drop*

Full power open and close would be a nice touch, front and rear.
