Is anyone having good luck with their C8?
Hey all,
Quite a bit of what I read here are HORROR stories. That gent with the battery/electrical craziness and lousy dealer experience is really concerning. The DCTs have been concerning too, with several cars held from delivery for QC checks and all kinds of other failure stories. I’ve read about all kinds of interior QC things too, from dash de-lamination to crooked stitching.
As much as I love the C8 and already have 6K invested in the ordering process, what the heck am I getting myself into? I know there are happy people with good experiences; any chance some of you can share your normal stories? Like small problems that were easily fixed or no problems at all? Is there any real data that talks about reliability? The magazines have an obligation to their advertisers and investors, so that data is always questionable to me.
Does this forum have polling function that could be conducted? Might be something we could all benefit from. I’m happy to work on it with someone on it.
Any thoughts folks?
Regards,
Kastle

OP, if you can find a CAR FORUM that is NOT "dominated" by owners with issues/moans/groans, etc. let me know.
P.S. Video below has already been posted a few times but worth reposting here.

Best and most reliable car I've ever owned; 2021 C8 with 19k miles. I'm a glutton for punishment too after owning far too many Jeeps & Mitsubishis.

I too am on the fence. The C8 could be a good two year car if it's used value doesn't tank. Be prepared in the event that it breaks to wait for parts. I wouldn't rely on it to be my one and only DD.

Are there some problems with the C8? Unfortunately yes. Is it likely to happen to you? No.
There have been no recalls as far as I know. All makes and models have some problems even the highest rated brands.
My 2023 has been flawless so far through 13,000 miles. Local Dealer did oil/filter change and transmission filter change quickly with no problems.
Not even a glitch in the electricts as has happened on past generations.
Think about it, if you have a problem what would you do? Seek out information, right? What better place than here?
Then if you are one of the unfortunate ones that has an ongoing or unresolved problem you will probably badmouth the car. Seen it happen with all makes and models.

I only have 13,900+ miles on my '23, but that was because I got t-boned and have had to wait for parts, otherwise I'd have 20,000+ on it.... as soon as I get it back (27 December) I am immediately leaving on a 600 mile trip. Then, in January I'll be making a 3,000+ mile trip.... my longest trip to date is a 5,000+ mile trip I took last May.
Like all my previous Corvettes (7) the C8 has been without problems..... other than the F-150 t-boning me - damage was less than $9,000.

I wish — still LOVE the car and miss it every day (in shop for 12 days rn so far with no end in sight and the loaner is terrible lol). Recurring moisture issues, Delaminating dash (3LT), and front lift service. Also a software update bricked the ECU and it needed a new one.
would still do it again. ‘21 HTC with 37,000 miles as it’s my only car/daily driver

I started a thread in October - the 2nd anniversary of my car. The car now has over 26,000 miles and has been great. Here is the rundown...
My 2022 3LT Z51 HTC was built on 9/16, shipped on 9/20 and delivered to the west coast courtesy delivery dealer on 9/27. In-service date: 10/2/21. Currently has 24,721 miles and I am loving the ride, comfort, power and style. Here is its service history:
300 miles - got CEL and " idle creep disabled" message. CEL cleared itself later that day and car drove fine. Pulled DTC codes indicating an issue with the DCT solenoids. Figured it was a fluke. Did not visit dealer and waited until 7,843 mile service to have DCT flush.
7.843 miles - "first service" transmission fluid flush and filter, engine oil & filter, rotated [side to side] tires - no charge
7,879 miles - replaced under warranty front compartment passenger side sight shield [GM 84862309] that is easily broken when you try to remove it - no charge
15,200 miles - I replaced engine oil & filter and "rotated" [side to side] tires
16,060 miles - I replaced windshield wipers [driver GM 84566977, passenger GM 84566978]
16,185 miles - I replaced brak pads to reduce brake dust and eliminate squeal with PowerStop Z26 Extreme Performance Ceramic [front 8009, rear 8010]
20,714 miles - I replaced passenger compartment air filter [ACDelco CF185]
22,625 miles - DCT service including transmission fluid flush and filter replacement [service cost $525.73 after participating Chevrolet dealer 15% Costco Auto Service Discount]
22,628 miles - I replaced engine oil & filter and "rotated" [side to side] tires
Summer-only Z51 Michelin run-flats come with 8.5/32nds of tread. At approx. 25,000 miles, I have 6/32nds of tread remaining.
Nothing else to report. Happy motoring!

'23 built Nov 22, delivered Dec 22, 4000 miles, no issues and have never allowed an OTA (for what it's worth). Looking forward to the Spring.

Mine is a 2021 C83LT with every option you could get in 21 other than the dual roof. I bought it used with 6995 miles on May 10,2023. It now has a little over 14,000 miles and is my only car. We had to replace the instrument cluster as directed by the technical center in Detroit as it was not talking to the radio to play sound or to the theft deterrent system. That has been the only problem I have had with the car. I was an Armor officer in the Army so maintenance is in my blood stream. Stay up with your maintenance and find a maintenance facility that knows what they are doing. Fortunately my dealer is good and when they are stumped they are not afraid to use the technical center. I have fixed many armored vehicles which had serious problems. Sometimes you have to say I am not good enough to fix this and seek help from a higher source and I can assure you a main battle tank makes any car look very simple and I don't care who made the car.

Most of what gets reported on the forum is problem areas. However, remember there are a lot of C8 owners that are not members of the forum and thus their experiences are not known.
