would i be making a mistake buying a c7 now instead of a c8?

I have owned my 2015 C7 vert since October of 2014. I purchased my 2023 C8 HTC in October of 2022. My C7 now sits most of the time on a battery tender. The C8 is just a better car all the way around. I love my C7, but the C8 just does everything better. Oh yeah, the seats in the C7 suck compared to the C8 as well. C7 is too narrow and digs into your left thigh. They are both great cars, but if I had to pick one or the other, then it would be the C8.

I had a C4, C5, C6, now C8.
I skipped C7 because I am just not interested in that old front engine platform.
I could not spend money on a refreshed version of an old design.
But that's me, I like new and modern. I can't stand to be behind the state-of-the art curve.
If you have driven both and you are trying to decide, that tells me that you don't see any value in the new and modern.
C8 is just a car with some new features for you. C7 has great features too.
I bought a C8 without ever test driving one. I knew it would be that good, and have never been disappointed.
If new and modern is not important to you, buy a C7.
If the mid engine DCT format is not exciting to you, buy a C7
If you are OK with 10 year old technology, buy a C7.
For me there was no choice, nothing to consider. If you think they are both equal in appeal, save your money.

Only you can make the right decision for yourself.
I loved my C7 enough that I kept it when I bought the C8.
However I rarely drive the C7 as the C8 is amazing.
C7 battery died and gas is going bad now.
Put in a new battery and it’s on a charger. Also have some Stabile for the gas that I need to put in and fill the tank.
Lets you know my choice for a DD.
Even drive it when it’s raining.

preface: i am on the waiting list for a c8, but every day, i find myself frantically searching used car sites for a used c7 grand sport
its like i'm "fighting" my wait list
after test driving both cars for 20 mins, like a first date impression, i feel the c7 fits my needs much more for daily driving purposes
like many members mention, the c8 has excellent handling, acceleration, steering, braking, feel, etc. but im not really after all of that for daily driving. im after the c7's large storage space, cabin space, and ease of finding a mechanic for a front engine car
but the c8 does have the front lift, auto folding side mirrors, blind spot detectors, and numerous parking cameras. the c7 only has a few cameras and nothing else
the c8 is superior as a "pure driving car" in terms of driving fun. the c7 is superior as a "daily driver" in terms of doing it all
the c8 is better suited as a 2nd car or weekend car, the c7 is better suited as an everyday car
ive talked to many local mechanics, they do not work on mid engine cars. but they said they'd all work on the c7
i do not know how long term ownership costs of c8 compare to c7, but nearly 80% of voters on this forum say they are not comfortable owning a c8 out of warranty, while the c7's are mostly out of warranty and im still willing to buy; i feel the c8 is not a long-term keeper car while the c7 is a long term keeper car
these are my thoughts
im still on the waitlist for a c8, but i feel the c7 is more for my needs
is my ideas wrong? is there something about the c8 that im missing? this is a big purchase so looking for c8 owners' thoughts

Both cars are way too much for the street, but the newest c7 is getting old, just get the C8. The C7 is old enough to need repairs, but new enough to depreciate. It’s in the sour spot.

I went for the C8 because the C7s were priced out too high. And adding in the Euro looks and rear engine handling, the deal was done for the C8.

I put 90K on my C7. 1LT M7 Z51. Getting in and out of the C7 was easier, at 460HP it hauled a$$, love a stick shift. If you can find a clean low mile C7 GS get it. When you wear that one out, get a C8.

Better copies of a Stingray C7 are in the mid fifties when a new C8 can be yours for seventy or so. Preferring the C7 makes this a difficult decision.
Full warranty vs. no warranty, parts availability for the C8 can be slightly better. If time is a concern go with the C8 and you could have one in 30 to 90 days but if you are looking for that rare and desirable C7 it could be much longer to locate and they are becoming fewer at least on the market as time goes by. The C8 is the alternative decision.

I used to own (2) 2017 C7 Grand Sports - but I currently own a 2017 Grand Sport Convertible and a 2022 Z51 HTC. The C7 is just an outstanding car in every way. The C8 is also fantastic but newer...so it gains an edge there. When comparing the two, I look at this way; The C7 can be compared to a shotgun blast - its loud, explosive and destroys everything in its path when it takes off. The C8 is a sniper rifle, its more precise, easier to aim it where you want to go, but before you even know it, you've already destroyed your target at lighting fast speed.
It just depends what type of look and feel you want - they are very different cars. My suggestion would be to get the C7 GS now, hold onto it for a year or two, let these retarded prices come back down to earth and then go get your C8.

If you are going by just looks alone go for the C7 any day! The C7 is a Front Engine American Sports car /Muscle car . The C8 is a American made European looking Mid Engine Exotic Supercar not a bad thing just not my thing. Might as well go for a C7 Z06 save a lot of money and you might not even want to get a C8 Stingray JMHO! Good luck with what you decide.

I've got both and they are great cars. I think its pretty obvious the C8 is newer tech and GM stepped up the build quality. The infotainment center is much better in the C8 but the C7 has it beat in the storage department. Get the C7 as you'll save some money and you can always get the new model after some time if you choose to move up. Really a personal decision. But if you want new and a full warranty, that speaks for itself.

I have to ask why you're still on a wait list when there are so many C8 Stingrays available, both new and used?
Re: mechanics working on "mid-engine" cars vs the C7. The engine placement has absolutely nothing to do with complexity of working on the vehicle. The LT2 is no more difficult to work on than the LT1 of the C7 - find better mechanics.
It's likely people in the C8 forum would tell you the C8 Stingray is the greatest sports car in the history of sports cars & those in the C7 forum would say the same about the C7.
As one who doesn't buy base models, I'd choose the Grand Sport.

Below are the main factors which tipped the scale for me:
- Price difference was not substantial
- Factory warranty
- More modern exterior/interior design
- Wider stance
- Ability to have it built with exact and preferred options
