Just Picked Up my C8 and have a question…
Hey Guys,
Just picked uo my new ‘24 C8 HTC 3LT Z-51. Currently have 40 miles on it and I am getting loud brake squeal from front passenger tire while driving. (It gets less and stops when braking). It sounds like the brake wear tab. I’ll probably call the dealer but has anyone heard of an issue like this? Can I adjust the tab on that one wheel brakes?

Sounds like a small stone or piece or debris caught between the brake pad and rotor. Are you seeing any scoring on the brake rotor (outside or inside rotor surface)? Try going backward while lightly pumping the brakes... that may dislodge any debris. Otherwise, removing the brake caliper and manually removing any debris would be the solution (if in fact, debris as I expect is actually the culprit). Also, check that the disk backing plate is not bent or improperly installed... it may be rubbing on the disk... but in that case, you would hear the sound whenever the wheel is in motion, not just when applying the brakes.

These are performance brake pads... Heat them up; they need to be broken in. A few back-to-back hard & fast stops will get them where they need to be.

If you do any work on the brakes make certain to disconnect the battery. The brake system may check and pressurize the system at any time. You don't want to have your fingers in there when that happens.

The noise you described is not normal. I would suggest taking it to the dealer to diagnose the problem and perform the repairs.

You may want to have your car towed back to the dealer. A good friend of mine had his 24 Stingray delivered to him at the dealer with a grey like material on both of the front brake pads. He turned down the car and ordered another 24.

I'm not sure why someone would do something so silly when the dealer could resolve the problem under warranty and he would still have his car to drive around in instead of waiting another 3+ months. If the he thought the car was cursed what are the odds the next one won't be cursed too!

My 2020 had this and it turned out to be a small pebble lodged in between the rotor and brake guard on the inside of the passenger side front brake!
Definitely take it to the dealer and have them check it out!

I've picked up a pebble in the brakes and managed to dislodge it by backing up and hitting the brakes several times, I'd give it a try before bringing it to the dealer. Removing a pebble from the brakes won't be covered under warranty if that is the problem.

I bought my new 2023 C8 off of the dealer’s lot in early August. The vehicle drove home fine. However, when my wife and I went out for a ride the next day, the left front wheel started making an intermittent loud squealing noise with or without braking. I was able to get a service appointment the next day. The mechanic found a body screw stuck in the brake rotor hat that was causing the noise. He added that none of the body screws were missing near the wheel. He felt and I agree that the screw was probably dropped in the rotor hat during assembly at BG.

Well on my way to the dealership this morning the noise stopped, everything feels perfect now. I will ask the dealership to look when I go in the future but that was strange. Perhaps it was a pebble or something in the brakes and maybe it got dislodged while I started driving to the dealer this morning. That reminds me, I have to post some pics of the car
