C8 Model Arrived: I'm Underwhelmed
So, I'm trying not to be that guy that looks a gift horse in the mouth, but I have to say that I'm underwhelmed with the C8 model that just arrived about 7 months after taking delivery of my C8. To me, it looks like my car with a white car cover on it. Can someone explain to me what I'm missing with this design? I'm sure a lot of thought went into it.
.
The packaging was 1st rate and model itself probably wasn't inexpensive to make and it has some heft to it and would make an excellent paper weight.
But I would have much rather had a very nice replica model of my car.

Art, same factory paint as the car, personalized, etc. I've had mine displayed in my bar room for 2+ years now and really like it. Mine is bright yellow though. The C7 leather gift was cool too, but much prefer the C8's gift!

Well, someone gave it some thought...and if it wasn't cheap, add that in. At least they tried. It isn't a stink-bomb. It's just not to your liking. Put it somewhere else in the house and forget about it. Consider the car to be 1% better than you ever expected. Therefore, may the car be the real present---to yourself and expectations!

It’s a gift. Many like it. If you don’t, then throw it away… or regift it.

Yeah, just throw it in the trash, along with the build sheet, window sticker and manual. You don't need any of that crap. And don't ever take any pictures of your C8 or you may get reminded of it.

Saw Warhol's BMW on display in Charleston SC. Been to the Miro' museum outside of Barcelona several times. Recall when the Museum of Modern Art in NYC had a special exhibit of Picasso's work. The whole large museum had only his work. That was interesting as most of his works, including many sculptures, were donated for the exhibition. It filled the Museum. It started with his early work that was like that of what some consider a great realistic painter. He was prolific and started with some paintings of naked women and progressed into more stylized figures and eventually cubism, where you had to look carefully! Lots of his sculptures. Just like Michelangelo from his sketch they would do the hard work and he’d finish! (BTW, I was there on the last day as tickets were time based. I was behind Carl Sagan who had his son and as we were required to follow in a roped off path thru the museum and enjoyed his descriptions! I recall as we were outside for about a half hour moving slowly to the enhance. Scalpers were offering $400 for my $25 ticket! Understand some will never understand!)
I was at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame when they had the original Janis Joplin Porsche. Also outside the Men’s room had a pic of her topless. But some of the best pics are by Pop Artist Andy Warhol!
Here are some pics in my Man Cave:
IMO the pic of a Red C8 I have on my Man Cave wall is by far the best! Heck anyone can take a pic, paint a realistic pic or produce a metal model. If that is what you want go buy one.
These are post cards with Miro' paintings.
On the left in Red is one I painted in the 1970's. The original was in the Museum of Modern Art in NYC about 20 feet high!
This is a collage I made with Janis Joplin's Porsche that was in The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Also the pic outside the Men's room. The Pop Art pics of her lower right are by Andy Warhol
This is a Ferrari 330/P4 by an artist from Hawaii. Bought that at a Vintage Car Race in Laguna Seca
This is by Andy Warhol. Similar to his Campbell Soup Can's it's just called Green Cat! Hangs above my 55 gallon fish tank!
This composite pic. Upper right Andy Warhol's original painted BMW he did for them. The limited addition Models were like $500. I bought an inexpensive 1:32 model and painted myself! For size perspective that is a 1:87 Resin Model I made of my 1st car a '41 Coupe!

I love mine. Thought it was supposed to be like a modern art concept or something above my pay grade but very well done from concept to execution to packing !
