Caravaggio Corvettes' Redesign of C8 Corvette
#4
Burning Brakes
Adam Ismail can take a flying leap….the C8 Corvette is not “terrible” looking. There is no way in hell I would spend any money for that “redesign”.

There are improvements, and then there is waste. This is a waste.

Would be great inspiration for the C9.
I love my C8 and think it's a great looking car, and nothing beats it for the price. But, compared to some other cars out there, it has some goofy lines. This is a nice fix. But no way is it a $135k fix. That's just...lolz for days.

Sure hope the next gen design is a bit more authentic and enhanced than that.

This is the kind of thing I'd pay $15,000 for. $135,000 is not happening. But there are always some with more money than rational concerns about spending it.
It does redress much of the things that seem overstyled. Makes it more Ferrari and less Lamborghini. But I think I'd rather play slight-of-hand and strategically wrap parts of the exterior in order to help "clean up" the shortcomings. That's far cheaper by an order of magnitude.

I like it.
I wouldn't pay that much for it. But, I like it.

Looks like a C8 with smoother lines. Meh, I'll take my C8 over that any day...

A lot of the busy lines look cleaned up. But the stock head lights and especially tail lights are too hard angled to flow with the softened body lines. Those softer rounded lines make it look like the curved slabs of mid-2000s Ferraris. Looks dated unlike the more dramatically swoopy lines on modern Ferraris. At least the wheels match better than any factory Stingray offerings. They look even more factory but also look matched to the mid-2000s design of the body.
The Carrera GT has a similar hard sculpted line that starts from the vent and runs along the full length of the door:
Its bladeless side vent is what early C8 concept drawings had:
The concept drawings look more stunning and dramatic as per usual but would probably cost a lot more to manufacture and wouldn't fit 2 golf bags. This Italian coachwork is making me realize we essentially got a mid-2000s form factor body with a bunch of creases thrown in to make GM's version look less dated. Whereas the Italian design gets rid of all that noise and re-sculpts everything to follow the essence of the underlying body.

Good point. For $135,000, they should be able to come up with better headlights and taillights. Maybe relocate the 3rd brake light to the wing so it cleans up the rear bumper even more; because it looks like all they did was blend the wing and remove the grills--and the bumper is otherwise stock looking.

"In honor of jpee"
Leaving the front and rear alone may have been due to degree of difficulty to relocate parts behind the bodywork, or aero (flow). But, let's not forget, Guldstrand, Shinoda and especially Callaway came out with variations of the Corvette. Probably others, too. This one is a good design for the parts it did and from what I've heard, Caravaggio makes a very good product---meaning, quality.
