A Winters Nap

Fully agree on typical winter prep yet for me, since I dont use a trickle charger- and want to prevent flat spotting of tires - I drive the car about 25 miles each day. I dont cover the car either and have little worry about rodent intrusion

I don't put mine up for the winter, but I do put it under cover during the fall. The leaves and fir needles and maple seeds are extremely intrusive. So I put a cover on, plug it in and wait for all the leaves to come off the trees. Once that happens, the car gets to go back on the road, wet or not. .. It's only for a two or three months.
Cover on.
Trickle charger plugged in.
Wait.

Here's what I've come up with for storing my toys for winter through years of research and trial & error...

Since it hasn't been mentioned, the reason to park a car for the winter is because of the newer road salts used. The brine on the road creeps into everything. We used to get a break, now even on a sunny day they come out and pre treat the bridges and underpasses with that crap. Rock salt pretty much bounced off your car. Brine sticks

I put mine away for the winter so I don’t put too many miles on it. I want the wife’s next husband to get a pristine low mileage C8……..yeah right. Drive it as much as you can while you are able to but do avoid the salt and gravel. We are only here for a short time. Build memories not dreams. On my deathbed I don’t want to say I wish I had driven my C8 more but I also don’t want to say the DCT needs to be changed out before you sell the car. Okay enough light hearted humor folks. Sam

I do the same thing with my 2010 2SS Camaro during bad weather. Fourteen years old, 15,000 miles and never been driven in the rain. I haven't received my C8 yet, so if you will just send your's down here to Houston, I promise to take good care of it and never drive it in bad weather.

I have always used the Race Ramp Flat Spot Stoppers in addition to all the other ideas mentioned above.
( You will shortly receive a barrage of posts questioning my sanity and saying a complete waste of money etc )
They work.

I kind of feel for you folks that have to park your cars for the winter. As screwed up politically California is, there are many winter days that we can drive our cars. Pretty mild here, and a ride to the coast or through the redwoods is a treat. Four months sitting parked would kill me.

No need to start the car periodically, unless the car gets up to operating temp, you are doing more harm than good....Just leave it...I would cover it for sure for obvious reasons....The paint is cured when it leaves the factory, this would not have been the case many moons ago, but now, different paint, and technology in the Paint departments, paint is 100% cured and ok to cover...Cover the exhaust tips just for extra protection from rodents (I used tin-foil)...

quite possible under certain conditions, but I did this for 4 yrs with my C7, and the pipes were fine.....if I had a choice of what you mentioned or Rodents, I know which one I'd prefer not to happen.....

idk, I know most people on here don’t share my enthusiasm for year round driving in 4 season weather, but it’s a car not the Mona Lisa. I’m enjoying it while I can before we are stuck with all electric and gas is $15/gal
