I sold my 2014 C7 Stingray Convertible with 36,000 miles in March 0f 2021, as I had my 2022 C8 HTC on order. At the time I got 40K for the car and thought I did reasonably well, until the guy I sold it too, immediately turned around and flipped it to a dealer for 45K, who probably sold it for 48K to 50K. Tell the truth, I felt stupid for having obviously accepted too little for the car. Nonetheless, I have been incredibly happy with my C8 so, I guess in the long run I don't regret trading up....

I agree HENDRICK which has about 100 used C8s everywhere it's the wild west they think nothing of charging 5-10,000 over sticker on a 2020 2LT if you find a 2LT tons of 1LTs. The dealers are not allowed to deal I offered $60,000 down if they would drop the price $2000 couldn't or wouldn't.

Great for the few who took the opportunity to cash in but it was never sustainable and I just don’t consider losing less than 10% of MSRP in the first 3 years to be prices tanking. I used to but used Cadillacs for almost half of MSRP after 3 years. That is what I’d think needs to happen to make these claims accurate, maybe thats just me.
NOT YET...BUTT ...I will feel it when I see it..and it will hurt too!

The only way this makes any sense is if the prices are being compared to the early day mark ups over MSRP or if people thought the C8 was going to be like a Lambo or Ferrari and appreciate in value
I just sold my 2023 1LT ELB coupe with 4,711 miles for $6,750 more than I paid for it one year ago. Why anyone would pay that instead of waiting 3-6 months at MM for a 2024 same build, albeit Riptide Blue, with no miles and a 3yr/36k warranty is beyond me.

yes but the main reason you made out good on your sale is because of the significant price increase of the *new* car as a whole. used meanwhile are dropping off a cliff and rightfully so, this car isnt rare, theyre making tens upon tens of thousands every year. the fun is over, time to come back down to earth, too bad so sad. haha. its all well and good though, anyone who cared about flipping their car THAT much has already sold theirs.

The Greed, Arrogance, and Stupidity of GM and their dealers is disgusting.
I hope they both choke on all these cars.

I watched for a minute or two. Is this really scientific evidence? He has a lot of numbers and charts, but there are just too many variables to predict the future.
The C8 has outperformed just about everything it is compared to. There is so much uncertainty in our economy and US politics, and world politics.
Any future predictions about car prices, I will believe it when I see it.

I completely agree. I’m genuinely happy for you making money or breaking even. But I’m just dumbfounded by behavior like this buyer. These are the only people that might consider the prices low.

Clearly I’m too poor or cheap to play in this league. The C8 I still on the waiting list for will be the first new car I’ve ever bought simply because unless I’m saving 20-30% I might as well get exactly what I want with a full warranty

This video is a fluff piece. The only difference between now and a year ago is the wait time has diminished. You could have ordered a new C8 at the right dealers for MSRP if you didn't mind waiting around 10 months and today you can order a new C8 at the right dealers and the wait is 3 months or so. By late Winter / early Spring, there will be a nice selection of new C8's on the volume dealer's lots available for immediate delivery and it's possible that discounts will begin soon after.

Not on a Corvette. When I was selling them we ALWAYS took into account tire condition, it's a $1,800 swing in ACV from worn out to new.

I don’t understand why they knocked off $1800 on my trade in?

I don't either, a Pontiac with slicks is obviously a very high performance car.

For those for whom such prices are mere "pocket change," any cost simply doesn't matter if they want something; they pay what's asked and never give it a thought... before driving off. I've a friend who learned this at a car show when a guy walked up out of the crowd and asked what he'd take for his car. He made up a totally absurd price, since he had absolutely no interest in selling, and the guy asked how he wanted the money... "SOLD!" then and their. He still shakes his head in disbelieve.

When we decided to put our vacation home in Florida on the market two years ago, our agent (and neighbor there) asked what we wanted and after we told her she said we would never get that price. A week later a couple from Denver offered list price based on internet pics which set a new high for the neighborhood in terms of sales price and price per sf. Still shake my head as well.

I think a "bad" is missing in there. Corvettes ran about half of MSRP at 3-4 years old for a loooong time. Huge dive in the first 3-4 years then stable. But this had a lot to due with new prices being a good 10-20% chunk below MSRP. C8 launch being on top of covid tossed all those trends out the window. But it's always been just a matter of time until we got back to value being lost as soon as you drive off the lot.

It's going to take us awhile to get back to anything like 2019, but the days of paying over sticker new or selling near sticker after a year are two are long gone unless you find a real sucker. I think a lot of buyers went into it assuming they could enjoy the car for a year or two and nearly break even. Those days are gone.

The operating costs and long term reliability of the DCT could hurt us as well, but only if they really commonly grenade below 100k and there's a real fix at some point. But it sure feels like GM thinks the DCT is ok enough now and it'll soldier on getting small fixes. Think about how long they cranked out A8's in so many things with torque converter problems.

My gut feeling is we will soldier on with refreshes (think C6 to C7) from now on, until they decide to drop gas engines alltogether. Whenever they kill the V8 from trucks... we're dead.

OK Maybe this they won't give you any more for your car but they will offer less if the tires aren't in good shape. If they offer me 40 for my car and tires etc were 1500 they ain't likely to add 1500 to their offer
