Drive C8 Museum to Atlanta ?
I’m ordering my car this coming weekend from McMulkin, I will be going there in person to view all the options first hand, and sit in the car’s and put my hands on the physical choices .
It looks like the cost to have it shipped to me in late spring early summer is about the same cost as picking it up at the museum in Kentucky— about 320 to 340 miles from North Atlanta.
If I travel to Kentucky and drive the car home, do any of you see any problems or foreseeable inconsistencies with the break in period ? I have reviewed the guidelines about the first 200 miles and the first 500 miles. Also, I don’t know if I’m going to put any other paint protection on it but I think someone said you could buy a nova stretch bra for the front of the car at the museum is that correct? Any suggestions would be appreciated? If it turns out to be March April or May I suspect the weather could be decent I do not know if they get snow in this area or if they salt the roads ?
It might sound silly, but has anyone picked up their car at the museum and then had it shipped on a carrier to their final destination … as an alternate method?
Also, I’m looking to net work with some new C8 friends in Roswell GA, I’ve driven 2 C8 from Turo. I will be selling my 1965 C2 and my 2003 50th anniversary C5 to consolidate down to one car mostly due to garage Space.
For what it’s worth, I will be ordering a red mist convertible 3LT without the 51.
Best regards, Bob / ‘65nassau’

Drove my 2021 home from the museum
wife drove her 2023 home from the museum
we live in atlanta
took the highways home with no cruise control
take 2 days day 1 do the plant tour and buy your merchandise from the museum let them know you are picking up the next day and they will give you the discount. Day 2 do the delivery 1st time slot, tour the museum and then come on home should be in atlanta for dinner

It’s been awhile since I’ve been out that way. As I recall, there’s this mountain pass between Chattanooga and the state border that’s pretty foggy in the mornings and always seems to cause an automobile accident so be cautious in that area.

I did the museum delivery through Atalanta and on to Miami. There is no problem whatsoever with the break in period to take that trip. Also, I used the Novistretch front cover and some Tracwrap in other areas. By the way, the museum will install your Novistretch for a small fee.

All of the C8 Corvettes on the showroom floor tend to be sold orders, and they don't usually let anybody sit in someone else's car. When I bought my Stingray from MM, I paid for it before I ever got a chance to sit in a C8.

When you have driven the car home from Bowling Green schedule your COS and drive the car to Parumph. Enjoy the road trip in your great grand touring car.

I plan to do BG to CO mid-December. With Z51. Don't foresee any issues.

It’s fine and a good choice. I am in Atlanta and also bought my car from MacMulkin and picked it up at the museum. 5 hour drive back with traffic. I took delivery in December.

I drove from the museum to home near Jasper, GA with the novistretch (NCM bought and installed) and avoided Nashville and Chatt. Didn't want to deal with traffic and construction. Took longer but fun, scenic drive home and break-in friendly.

Bear … I see your point …I think what I mean is I would like to look inside the car and see the differences in some of the finishes and a few other items….. etc.. probably mostly on the exterior though.

You need to hook up with your local corvette club and or visit some cars and coffee…..if you are shopping car color combinations. Last time I was in Duluth….between Hendrick and Jim Ellis, between the 2 places there were probably 25 30 cars on the lots.

Take the Museum delivery (it will be a memorable experience) and then enjoy the drive home - great way to get to know the car and do a break in at the same time.

You'll do fine. I drove mine from BG to Montgomery, AL with a quick side trip to see the Noah's Ark, late July 2023, varying speed and down shifting to ensure RPM variance. Once you reach cruising speed on Interestate with Drive/automatic mode, you can select Manual mode and down & up paddle shift gears to vary RPM. Manual mode be better because when you down shift with in Drive/Auto it up shifts fairly soon. Feel free to make few Burbon distillery stops to reach the 500 mile point.
