Why are there no 180 degree headers for the c8? Some impracticality I'm not privy to?

The engineers did what they could to make everything fit into a tight package area. I think they did a very good job.

You ever try to route/wind them all over most tight engine compartments to make them work correctly?

Could probably do that if you were willing to give up the trunk.

Probably because there are none for the C7, C6, etc unless one off custom made.

It may be because of the fireing order. You would need to combine pipes from both banks into one collector. The Z06 wpuld be easy because of the flat crank

Like CholisBill said, the firing order is different than what was used in the old small and big blocks (18436572). One of the reasons GM changed the LS/LT firing order was to get better exhaust extraction without needing 180 degree headers.

There are some available for C6 aftermarket.

Of course they would be aftermarket for the C8, the OP wasn’t necessarily asking why GM didn’t make them stock (I don’t think?), but I for one, would pay the extra $ for these on a C8. I’m surprised also that no one has made these yet either. At least that I’ve seen?

I am not surprised at all. Cars made in the last few years are getting hard to modify, literally by design from the OEMs. The C8 Corvette is no exception. Team Corvette left very little on the table in terms of performance and what little they did leave is difficult and/or very expensive to get at.

Packaging and airflow. The engine sits next to larger rear shock towers occupying more space than a smaller front suspension and/or leaf springs in a front engine car. There's also a giant honking DCT below and a trunk directly aft. Paths also need to be cleared for the side air vents and their auxiliary cooling mechanisms. You could theoretically snake in 180-degree headers but it'd likely have such abrupt bends that choke airflow and rob power vs the current setup.

LS, LT, etc engines have a different firing order than the old small and big blocks. 180 degree headers were a benefit only on the old firing order. One of the reasons that the firing order was changed was so that 180 degree headers were not needed to extract the last bit of power out of the newer engines.

The guy in this thread built a set for his C5 you can get a idea what it would take to fit a set to a C8 same firing order

or look at that mess in the post above 🤣

They also dynoed the LS3 with both exhausts and the 180* headers made more power, especially mid-higher RPM.
