Destination Charge $1,695.00
I was looking at a few window stickers and noticed the destination charge is listed as $1,695.00. I guess when the price increase went in - destination charge was not price protected?? Looks like starting October 4th.

It makes sense destination charge would not be price protected because that line item is out of GM’s control.

How do you know? Because you see it on the sticker? All the increases are on the stickers. Mine came out $2,300 more. I'll see if it is included in about a week.

You must be kidding. Every single number that goes on the sticker is in GM's control. They can choose to pass on sub-tier expenses to the consumer, or reduce profit.

We shouldn't expect sympathy from GM or dealers, not when we are all perceived as being rich spoiled obsessive brats.

This was reported in another thread - there were a number of items that increased along with the base MSRP.

Yes I know, I didn't realize that the window stickers on 10/4 were showing all the increases, I thought only the delivery charge had changed - my bad. My car was built on 9/21 so it will show all the new pricing - hope I don't have to pay it.

I guess that it's the price to pay if you want to play

I would think that GM is not paying $1695 shipping for each car. They are surely taking a cut of that too as profit. Sam

I doubt destination charge is only the shipping cost. It likely includes all costs incurred to get a car from the assembly line to when keys are handed over to you. Shipping to a nearby state may also be cheaper than say CA. So there likely is some cost averaging. What about the material to wrap the car for shipping? Storage fees prior to shipping? Dealer PDI cost? Staff costs at union rates? Etc.

Don't forget this brain trust. Wears a shirt the says "Eat the Rich". He's doing this for the American working man. The same one that now can't afford a new GM car because they just raised car prices to cover the UAW demands. So GM makes the same or more and the poor working man can't afford the car. The only one taking it on the chin is the buyers of new cars. Thanks Shawn, you showed the rich a thing or two.

The destination charge is negotiated with JC. There is no profit. Whether your car is delivered to Spokane or Bowling Green the charge is the same.

Keep politics out of the discussion. There is a place for that on Corvette Forum, but this isn't it.

NO MANUFACTURER controls external shipping costs. Truckers, and shipping companies like FedX, UPS even USPS raise their rates manufacturers pass the cost onto to consumers. It’s that simple and that IS the way it works.
