Ceramic regrets?

There are test / comparison vids where a number of products are applied and then water tested over time in weather / the elements, like below. Is there some reason not to consider these tests?

Other than cost I can see no disadvantages. I’ve had self applied ceramic on our cars for several years. Even the spray on works well and helps with cleaning. Absolutely no problem with water spots, can’t understand that one and don’t seem to be overly affected by running through a hand held car wash. I certainly plan to keep using it.

I have always used Kamikaze products which are available through a few high end suppliers. Five years and still going strong on one of my Vette. Wifes Audi on for three years and half of that outside in SC heat/sun still performing well. Bear in mind even a high end ceramic coating needs maintenance. A fine clay cleaning and a refreshing spray sealer recommended by the manufacturer. Now going on my C8. and I expect the same level of performance. Remember you get what you pay for. Over the counter "ceramics" aren't going to be nearly as resilient as one's you would find in higher end suppliers. Also another thing is if you haven't prepped the paint with a proper correction and cleaning even the best ceramic won't hold up.

I have had three cars done with Ceramic Pro Ion, my present C8, my previous C7 and my 2015 Jaguar XJL. The two Corvettes also had full frontal Ceramic PRO PPF. I would highly recommend it. Ceramic PRO ppf film comes from the factory ceramic coated. My car sits outside as my motorcycles are in the garage. I used a ceramic product called F11 on the C7 and the Jag and while it is good there is no comparison to the Ceramic Pro products.

If you can wax your car on your own you can apply the ceramic coating on your own. In fact it's actually easier than waxing. If you typically pay for someone to wax your car then probably pay for someone to ceramic coat it. It's all very similar process.
Those ScottHD YouTube videos posted above will give you a very good idea of what a wax and what a ceramic coating will do for you.

I doubt that anyone who has spent a lot of money on it is going to say, “no, that was a stupid idea.”

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being extremely difficult and frustrating to keep clean and 10 is self cleaning requiring no maintenance I would put my pros coating at a 7 or 8 even 3 years later and my wife's suv which I just apply adams sealant with with a machine a few times a year at a 5 or 6.
Takes me 3 hours to do a bi-weekly clean on the c8 and truck, interior and exterior, she can do her suv in about 2 hours

I rubbed in 3 coats of tech wax when i got my car home from the museum delivery. i already had the tec wax left over from my c7. then i started researching ceramics and realized that the 'warrientied' coatings were useless unless you redo it or touch up every few months . i bought this hybrid ceramic after watching many videos. it works great!! I bought a new chevy truck in may and sprayed this stuff on as directed, it works very good on the truck too but does not have the slickness that the vette does. all this was just to postpone until i have time to polish out the vehicles. at this point, i am leaving it
like it is as it does work much better than expected. my truck sits outside 24/7 and the ceramic is holding up very good now at 4 months.

proper part is true. professional only means they get paid for it. does not mean they are any good at it. buy some tools of the trade and you can do the same qualty work if you want. if you read the fine print on the warranties, most if not all require ytou to briing it back to them regularly
