Default Rear View Mirror Camera OR Conventional Rear View Mirror?

What are your thoughts on the rear view mirror camera? It only took me a couple of days to get used to it, but a few C8 owners have said they can never get used to it.

So how often do you use the rear view mirror camera option verses the standard conventional rear view mirror? (Excluding top down HTC driving, of course.)

Always use it - those who don't like/use the rear view camera haven't learned to adjust it for proper use. The regular mirror can't begin to compare. I only wish I could use it with the top down (HTC).

The first time I tried it, I thought I would never use the camera, but once you adjust it for the right zoom and height, it works great. Much better view ,wide angle, very clear.
I can change lanes with confidence because I have a wide view of what is behind me. Love it now.

On my first test drive the video mirror made me dizzy. Hated it.
After using it a few days on my 2023 2LT coupe I became accustomed to it. Use it exclusively now. Much better field of view.

Love the camera, only took a glance or two and it was second nature for the rear view.

Can't see crap out of the mirror so the camera has been on since delivery.

Picking up my 1LZ HTC Z06 this weekend (which does not have blind spot monitoring but does have the rearview camera mirror).

Quick question- with the larger field of view with the rearview camera mirror, are you able to see cars in your blind spot, or only cars behind you? What would you say is the degree-field-of-view from where the camera itself is located?

It took me a day or two to get used to the camera but it is all I use since January

The flashing strobe light effect from certain headlights took the most time to adjust too

I have a coupe and do not feel like I really have a severe blind spot. i have been totally satisfied with my field of view

There is a small area that is still blind as the vehicle disappears from the rear camera and shows up in the left outside mirror. Very small but situational awareness is always good to have before changing lanes. I'd rather miss my turn than hit another car... might take years to get parts.

I need reading glasses so the camera mirror isn't as clear as the conventional mirror. I have my mirror adjusted so I can see out the back with the lever forward. Most of the time I use the camera mirror but momentarily flip the lever forward if I want a clearer view of what is in back of me. And then it is always ready for top down driving with a flip of the lever.

I rarely (one mile out 50?) drive with the top up. So I prefer a consistent view, rather than a different mode 2% of the time even if it is better.

Would use it if available in HTC, which could have been accomplished by a camera on each nacelle instead of centered, with software splicing them to one image.

I love the camera mirror. My C8 is the 4th car I've had with the camera mirror (have 2 currently). I really don't want a car without it.

I have an HTC and rarely drive with the top closed. But when I do - I use the camera mirror. I always initially notice the need to re-focus but quickly get used to it. One thing I noticed, and did not even realize I was doing before the camera mirror, is that I apparently via head motion and/or eye motion scan from side to side, taking in the side views and those mirrors, the center mirror view, the windshield view. With a conventional mirror, all of that can be done without re-focussing for near field. But with the camera mirror, as I do that scan (habitually) that mirror immediately catches my eye and interrupts that scan briefly because it requires a re-focus. But, for me, its become easy to adjust. Oh, and yes, I also have progressive lenses, so a bit of a learned head tilt is necessary.

Love it, but quickly learned not to use the wide angle option. Cars right behind me looked like they were 100 yards away, so just standard view now.

I use it when I'm in heavy traffic for the wide field of view (HTC), but most of the time I don't use it. I get motion sick very easy, and the adjusting of focus can throw me off.

Obviously, it's useless with the top down.

I have progressive lenses in my glasses and always use the camera mirror when my top is up.

couldn't imagine not having it. When the top is down its a struggle to adjust not having it..makes me much more alert which may be a good thing.
