best i can tell, the older folks have a hard time getting their foot out without kicking the sill or the door itself.

Not a good idea. If there is any air underneath, it can trap moisture and dirt, dust, grime. It's not a matter IF it will get under there, it's a matter of when.
Once sand/dirt gets underneath it will work like an abrasive. This is why bras are bad, especially in Florida. Sand gets underneath the contact areas, vibration does the rest.

I had my brother cut some custom vinyl. I have two layers. First layer is the black accent, then clear goes over all of it.

Just a heads up. .. (You can have mine if I can find them).. .
This is true if you never wash your car.

I had the plastic sill protectors on my C7. I put the PPF down where the plastic sill protectors touched the paint so that the sill protectors sits on the PPF and didn't have any problems

For me at least, the issue is not the door sill itself but the plastic trim separating the door sill from the carpet. More than once I've dragged a heel across that and scuffed it.

Doesn't matter whether your car is clean or not, they will leave scuffs/scratches.

PPF and ceramic coat your sills before using the door sill protectors

This week I had the PPF film put onto the sills. Done Deal. Can't even tell they're there.

Okay, everyone can step over it. Particularly, the owner and supposed main driver. Why don’t we buy a car and suspend it in gelatin?

This looks so much worse than any scuffs!

Have used sill protectors on a number of cars you want to put PPF down and the can ceramic boat the sill before putting the protector down. That further protects the sills,

if u want u can also ceramic boat the sill protectors

Old thread, but I personally have much bigger issues kicking the lower door panel OR the plastic piece on lower front portion of the seat. At least I did in my C7. Just got my '24 so we'll see how the C8 works out. It feels like there is more room getting in and out compared to the C7.

Those pre-fit tend to rub the paint. I've used clear plastic tabs where there was a tendency to rub the paint and it still looks like crap. Ended up with clear cabinet shelf plastic which I put down. Works great, no marring of sill and easily replaced and nearly invisible protection.
