Default Deposit question at Macmulkin

Sent my build into Macmulkin today, so my understanding is if something were to happen I can get my deposit back until I actually have a allocation.
thanks, I’m getting my head wrapped around the 100k for the car……..lol

The boat you are in will fill up quickly.
I gave my 2024 build to my dealership and will be in the first 2024 allocation order, hopefully end of July.

My wife and I are also price shocked. I know it is crazy. I have a nice 2017 GS Vert. with only 20k miles.
For me, at age 67, driving out for a fun ride is the one thing my wife and I enjoy. So I think it could be my last new car and if **** happens, sell it. We will enjoy the smiles per mile for as long as possible. I hope our health holds out for some years.
My wife says less money for a nursing home to take and spending the children's inheritance is okay. The new house roofing will have to wait another 3 years.
The wait begins.

You are not the only one....been driving Corvettes since the early seventies.....hard to believe that we're spending six figures for a Chevy but my 911's MSRP was $118,000..........wait for it.......ELEVEN years ago.

You can receive a refund of your deposit until MacMulkin submits your order to GM. Meaning, if they contact you that they have an allocation for you and you need to provide your build spec, you could tell them that you changed your mind. They will refund your deposit and move to the next person in line.

Yep.. It's no risk. .. You actually have until your allocation gets sent in.... That is----they will contact you to finalize your order and confirm all details. You can back out even then, but once your allocation gets sent to GM, that's it.

As others have said, no worries.
I'll echo the six figures for a chevy, crazy!
Saw a Z06 spec at 175k!
Probably break 200k by the time the C8 is done.

So you need to submit a build with the deposit at Mac?

No. The deposit gets you on the waiting list and they will ask for the build later in the process.

Default You do NOT submit your build at time of deposit with MM

No, you do NOT submit your build with your deposit to MacMulkin. You send in your deposit to MacMulkin first, which gets you in line at their dealership with others who are waiting their turn for an allocation from Chevy/GM. MacMulkin will then contact you when it is time to submit your build.

Well, I second the post above

They have creped up in price over the years. My first new Corvette was a silver on red 1975 Stingray at a whopping $7600. Was a lot of $ back then especially for a 17 year old who had saved up for about 10 years.

it is definately my last new car, 64 years old and this will be no7. Coming from 2 ZR1’s I hope I don’t miss the manual to much. I’ve not found a place to let me test drive this thing yet.

This is a lot of money for sure, even with a lower end stingray build on order, I’ve always done used cars and let someone else take a depreciation hit. I have the cash but I didn’t get the cash by not thinking about finances and buying stuff lol.

Hopefully you love the car you ordered and fulfill it when the allocation comes in, it’s a gorgeous car!

this will be my first new one, so I never buy like this. But at my age and no one around I said “FI” if I don’t like it at least it should be a new 24. In AZ you can’t find anything even used at sticker, it’s ridiculous …..

There are a handful of forum members here that’ll let you drive their cars or you could Turo one for a day or whatever length of time you need.

At age 61 I bought what I thought would be my "last new car"... or any car for that matter--the one that would "see me out". Through the years I've seen too many old people who bought their last car... a big, luxury vehicle-- like a Caddy Sedan, or Lexus, only 15 years down the road the car was too big. They sit hunched down, peering through the steering wheel driving 10 mph under the speed limit, and can barely afford the gas for their "road hog".... So I picked up a Fiesta ST, named one of 3 "Performance Cars of the Year" by Road and Track.
Room for 4, 29 mpg (avg), ~200 hp, great handling, .. and economy car if driven that way, or a sports car if driven like one... Perfect compromise........ .. BUT

I always thought it would be a wasted life to have never owned a Corvette. I eyeballed to generations back i.e. a C5 as the best value...... BUT .. Then they announced the mid engine C8. .... That IS my last new car.

I had thoughts about missing the 6 speed from my C5... until I drove the C8 and all thoughts of the manual went out the tail pipe. I turn 70 this year and this may not be my last supercar...
